Little Murders was a flop on Broadway and a flop as a movie and it is amazing. (Streaming on Prime) I saw it for the first time in June. In Q&A Elliott Gould said that Jean Renoir(!) had written a letter to Alan Arkin praising the film. Here's the letter, as read by EG on the bluray commentary track

Your picture will never be forgotten. It is not only a good picture, but what is more important, it is a record of a stage of the destruction of our world. You managed to do what pleases me the most in the art of directing movies: I mean to forget that there is a camera. We are the unseen witnesses of a terrible drama in which not only your heroes are involved but also all our contemporaries. It is a terrifying film, treated as lightly as a Broadway comedy. Thank you for having shown to me this modern version of a Greek tragedy.

Had dinner outside at the sidewalk rotisserie chicken joint before an evening screening of TWO WEEKS IN ANOTHER TOWN and they played the entire Meat is Murder album. No amount of cops, cybertrucks, or poorly done dermal fillers will change the fact that L.A. is the greatest city on earth.
