Streets are still closed off in front of the Portland ICE facility at 8:30pm. Protesters have gathered on a side street. Dance party in progress.

My theory is that there's a huge market for rebranding conservatism as centrism (or heyerodoxy or whatever), because there are a lot of people who politically or culturally conservative, but who are put off by a lot of the aesthetics of the modern conservative movement.

Once the base layer dried, I started stippling increasingly bright shades of green with big, soft makeup brushes.

I keep twisting and turning the brush to get random shapes. I'm focusing the light towards the middle of each panel.

I'll start refining after a couple more layers.
Rear of the Sanctum with no e green highlights on the rooftop. I'm focusing the green towards the middle of each panel with the top and bottom portions in shadow.

Got to love Dublin. #Speirgorm
Picture of a large junction box on the street at the top of Kildare Street at Stephen’s Green in Dublin, Ireland. On it is painted a very large, angry-looking seagull in front of two wooden gates. Two tiny people, dwarfed by the seagull, appear to be running from it, one on either side of the lower front of the image. The text over the gates reads St Stephen’s Green. The signature in the lower right of the image says M. Fitz 25.

Hey folks, tonight I'll be playing some CARIMARA, a neat looking indie horror game where you play a little goblin who collects words to communicate, then maybe something else when I'm done? Come join me, it'll be fun and I've been really looking forward to this one!

Both Bari and MattY quit their jobs and pretended they were fired so they could promote their substacks. Neither have ever been cancelled or interesting

As one of the countless people *actually* cancelled by Bari Weiss, via her vast favor-trading networks of fellow nepotistic gatekeepers in media and publishing, I think both of these asinine dipshits should go fuck themselves.
Matt Yglesias QT'ing Corey Walker

I didn’t rejoice at her cancellation and got cancelled myself at roughly the same time, but I am sincerely jealous that no regime-aligned billionaire has even fit to curry favor with the Trump administration by giving me a huge sum of money.

The vitriol against Bari Weiss is just thinly-veiled jealousy by people who rejoiced at "cancelling" her in 2020 and are furious she managed to get fabulously wealthy in an infamously brutal and low-paying industry.

It sets me on edge so immediately, and I don’t even know where to start explaining it to people who do it, because how could you do it?

I am finding a lot of relatable things in Novellie’s _Why Can’t I Just Enjoy Things_ , but oh how my whole body tried twisting away from my own ears when he narrated the experience of people eating by biting metal utensils.

The U.S. Treasury shared a proposal to mint $1 Trump coins to mark America’s 250th anniversary.

But U.S. code says only deceased individuals may appear on U.S. currency, a tradition dating back to efforts to break from monarchical rule. https://wapo.st/4pWsyL3

Your reminder that credit scores in the US date to 1989. For much of their existence, race and gender were factors.

They were invented bc it had been made illegal to discriminate by race and gender in the US, so financial institutions wanted a facially neutral way to accomplish the same thing.

Literally all I have wanted with that argument (which, coincidentally is just a narrative version of decades of feminist economic scholarship) is that our macroeconomic data hides a lot of friction, that friction is not equally experienced, & tech economy fundamentals have exasperated that gap.

This passage succinctly hits the heart of how Smart Number-Knowers can technically be speaking the truth when they say "but the economy is Good by all metrics we have!"... and yet, people are nevertheless struggling in an extremely real and impactful way

And for those who will inevitably say I'm telling people to comply with the regime or not to resist, I would respond by saying that the organizers of the Underground Railroad did not put the specifics of their identities and locations in every paper in the country and mail a copy to Robert E. Lee.

A small fire at the front of the bookshop was started last night after rubbish bags that were awaiting collection were set on fire. The guards don’t have reason at this time to believe it was a targeted attack. Thankfully the damage was limited and everyone is safe. We are open for business as usual

The GRA was passed in 2015 with very little fanfare following years of courageous campaigning by trans people. We have yet to see any negative ramifications in society - and we won't.

We simply *cannot* have a President of Ireland who speaks about trans women or their human rights in this way.

I'm not linking to the article but Heather Humphries thinks the Gender recognition act needs to be looked at, and trans women are not women. #Aras25 #SpeirGorm
