I’ve seen it argued on here that the 50’s were such good and easy times in the west that it made for bad horror movies, but that’s not exactly fair to the filmmakers. They had McCarthy breathing down their necks looking for “commies,” and the Hays Code censoring film from inside the industry.

I learned this during the peak of the “caustic critic” years of the internet. I noticed that watching too much of that kind of thing was making me not enjoy movies and games anymore, so I took a break from it and fell in love with the actual things again
If you think "good movies aren't made anymore." or "Marvel killed cinema." you don't know anything about movies, you don't watch movies, and you don't like movies.
Just because you repeat shit you hear on TikTok doesn't make you a cinephile. Actually watch movies instead of bitching.

My research for a graphic novel has now put me in the realm of trying to find biographies that probably haven’t been in print for decades. And it may have started me down a new career path, because researching this kind of history is just really, really interesting
