I took a break from movie posts as I ran dry of exceptional, unique and obscure films I was truly excited to recommend to the beautiful community of BlueSky. Rather than daily posts, I’ll now be infrequently sharing new discoveries and reposting old favorites.
Thank you @texastheatre.bsky.social for finally showing this movie, though under the name Scarlet Warning 666. January 20, 2026 @ 9 PM. The greatest mystery of my past 5 years will finally be solved.

Santa’s Slay directed by David Steiman has all the makings of a truly bad film but it nailed comedic horror with endless jokes that kept me laughing for its entire 78 minute runtime. How did I not know of this movie earlier? www.imdb.com/title/tt0393...

Late to the party, finally watched The Black Phone last night for the first time and it was outstanding. We already bought a copy of Black Phone 2 to watch later this month. @crobertcargill.bsky.social your movies rock! Been a fan since I discovered Sinister.

The Thirteenth Floor directed by Josef Rusnak explores the dark side of simulated worlds in this ahead-of-its-time sci-fi noir gem. Released the same year as The Matrix, this film is more nuanced, mysterious and less feisty. Vincent D’Onofrio rocks his bleached hair. www.imdb.com/title/tt0139...

Dogville directed by Lars von Trier feels more like a Peter Greenaway film. A small depression era mountain town takes in a woman on the run and human nature causes their welcoming warmth to twist to abusive servitude. The end is rewarding. www.imdb.com/title/tt0276...

Udo Kier was one of the great character actors while also being a hell of a character offscreen, too. Truly one of God’s own prototypes. Rest in peace, you magnificent bastard.

I watched “Omen IV: The Awakening” last night and I need more of that level of punishment.

Remember how scary it was for the 36 hours where it felt like the Right could explode into violence as a repercussion of an assassination? That's what our trans brothers & sisters feel like every fucking day

We have to protect them at all costs. They are our line in the sand; not a bargaining chip.

They Live directed by John Carpenter stars Roddy Piper in a story about socioeconomic class struggle perpetuated by an elite class that’s just as applicable today as when it came out. Don’t let the extraterrestrials distract you, this is pretty accurate. See it. Obey. www.imdb.com/title/tt0096...

Thanks to your recommendation we just saw it today for the first time. Outstanding movie, absolutely loved it in so many ways.
Don’t see “Aniara” talked about enough in circles of folks who like cosmic horror.

It’s NOT horror in most ways—but I’ve never seen a movie that handles like… cosmic nihilism better? It’s the scale of everything that a lot of content doesn’t even approach for fear of being too bleak. I love it lol
