I just switched all my desktops over a few days ago! It's refreshing to not see copilot ads everywhere

Hi Internet! I'm Drew and THIS IS MY FACE.

If this GIF has ever brought you joy in the past, I humbly ask you to consider making a donation to the National MS Society. It would mean a lot to me and to those I know affected by the disease!

So, I was looking for something entirely unrelated when I found this, which is apparently an ad for a Halloween horror marathon from 1961.

That's plenty great on its own, but for my fellow Kansas City peeps, look at what the participating theaters are...
A 1961 ad for a "Howl-o-we'en Movie Marathon," featuring three participating theaters from the KC area including the Dickinson in Mission, the Aztec in Shawnee, and the Overland in Overland Park.

Yeah, Ubuntu is a good choice, it's compatible with most third party stuff like Steam or other streaming tools. On old PCs Xubuntu is great because XFCE barely uses any resources.

Update: GMT's CROSS BRONX EXPRESSWAY game is shipping September 2025 👀

The designer (Non-Breaking Space) shared a photo of their game in front of the abandoned building (no longer there) & South Bronx street corner depicted on the box which was visited by Presidents Carter and Reagan 40+ years ago
Photo of GMT's Cross Bronx Expressway game taken by the designer, Non-Breaking Space (NB). The photo is of Charlotte Street in the South Bronx in 2025. The photo on the game's box is of this same street corner view, only at the time 40+ years ago there was an abandoned building there, which was a symbol of the blight and neglect the Bronx suffered as a result of the social and economic policies (negative) that New York City inflicted on the borough of the Bronx, and much of which still affects this borough today. This corner was visited by both Presidents Carter and Reagan, and Reagan remarked he hadn't seen such devastation since the Blitz.

Intel's 386 processor was popular in late 1980s microcomputers. From the outside, the 386 chip is a boring ceramic square. But I obtained a 3-dimensional CT X-ray scan from Lumafield, revealing six layers of complex wiring hidden inside the ceramic package. Let's take a closer look... 1/N
An X-ray scan of the 386 chip. It shows a square with a grid of 132 pins. In the middle is a square, the silicon die. Blue wires connect the pins to the chip. Spikes stick out all around the perimeter of the package.

Just got out of Ghost's KC show. It was a no-phone concert which is a genius idea. Everybody was just hanging out in the moment instead of sitting on their phones. Definitely see them if they're close because the set was awesome!

I think we lost something when people stopped making websites and started making posts. Even MySpace was a way cooler form of social media that let you customize your page to the nth degree.

As someone who’s been using the internet since 1999. It is crazy to see how much more restricted it has become

The old internet felt more futuristic than what we have now

Reviewers including No Pun Included and Shut Up & Sit Down are boycotting Codenames publisher CGE for releasing a new Harry Potter-themed game while ignoring JK Rowling’s anti-trans rhetoric:

A blue box to the left with four sillhouette-style humans, each notably wearing wizard-like robes from the Harry Potter universe. The box says Codenames and Back to Hogwarts on it, with Harry Potter in golden letters at the bottom. To the right, a cartoon astronaut head in a Harry Potter scarf winks, a variation of the logo of board game publisher Czech Games Edition.

My take is if you allow people to build PRs for your project you need to have a process for dialogue and review. That or just turn off PRs because the alternative just feels like stealing people's free labor.
matt.blobfish.zone
Stealing people's work sucks, even if it's one line. I've contributed large PRs to projects that get closed and the author writes the equivalent change themselves, which is a great way to never have anyone bother to contribute to your project again.

If LLMs were superintelligent, AI companies would use them secretly to build a perfect options trading system, the next Minecraft or Avatar, Gibson's Idoru, their own 'Employee as a Service', and keep every dime of profit.

Instead, the public has to be bullied to use it. It's more an MLM than LLM.
