White-throated Needletail @rspbbemptoncliffs.bsky.social scored gold again when the Tophill Low bird was relocated there late this afternoon. And best of luck for October, fingers crossed for some productive winds and birding! If the sprinkling of Yank and Siberian megas the last couple of days is anything to go by, could be in for an exciting month!

Remember to keep posting pictures too and they may get featured on the blog!

This is good —the Mayor of Yellowknife NWT in Canada’s far north weighs in on “Car Bloat” (truck bloat actually) and its many big costs & consequences (thanks @davidzipper.bsky.social for heads-up). And like most who dare tell the truth about that, he’s taking flack.

Screenshot of LinkedIn post from Yellowknife Mayor describing the costs and consequences of trucks having gotten so much bigger. In the link, he explains the backlash he received for his post.

Yes, my local MP is good, though to be honest nobody could be worse than Truss, who was hardly in the constituency, but watching this lot continue to push the false "nature" or growth dichotomy and doing naff all about water company ownership hardly enthuses one.

Yes I have to remove the case for digiscoping, but it can remain in the adaptor I use during the day which protects it though not waterproof. I await your results with interest!

Interesting set up. These days I find the iphone quality (and it isn't the latest!!) so good I digiscope with that. With cameras, I find avoiding vibration is an issue, be good to see how you fare.

When the team at Lakenheath go ‘Wow! What’s that?’ You know it’s going to be good.

Despite having about 6 different names, which confused the situation a bit, it got worked out to be a NFM Scarce Bordered Straw. I think it might have been new for all concerned.

If the Chancellor is raising taxes in November then she must start with raising them on us, the super rich. No ifs, no buts, no questions: we are the only ones left who can afford to contribute more.
