Our "Witness" issue begins with Rowan Tate's poignant bearing witness to life in exile. The feeling of bringing everything you have left with you is encapsulated here.

You'd think that losing my dad would have been the thing to slow me down during Vol. 1.1— but a storm of currents turned on the executive dysfunction surrounding Vol. 1.2. Owning up and moving forward now!

Cover reveal time! 🎉 We're thrilled to finally share the beautiful cover for Audi Locus Volume 1.2: "Witness."

We hit some delays (mental health break), but we’re back on track and this powerful collection is coming very soon!

A magazine cover for "Audi Locus: A Journal of Poetry," Fall 2025, Volume 1, Issue 2, themed "Witness." The cover features a painted image of a young woman with long, brown hair, wearing a mauve sweater and blue jeans, sitting by a window. She's holding a white mug with both hands and looking pensively out the window at a scene of colorful, brightly lit houses or buildings at dusk or night. The overall style is expressive and painterly.

I’m a little late sharing, but three of my visual poems were published in swifts & slows at Arteidolia. These pieces let me stitch fragments and small drawings into something between poem and spell. I'm happy they found a home.

A black and white visual poem is centered on a line-drawn image of a globe on fire, which is mounted on a small pedestal. The globe has a cross-hatched pattern to suggest lines of longitude and latitude.

The poem's text is scattered around the central image in a mix of typewritten and handwritten-style fonts, some words are curved or angled:

"southern porch" is at the top center.

"the sliding door feels like apple skin" is below that, with "waxy warm, peeling chimes" positioned further down and to the right.

    "vibrate" is on the left.

"hummingbirds," is on the right, above "tasting tasting".

"red-capped vessels," is to the right of the burning globe.

The phrase "don't mix bleach and ammonia" forms an arc around the bottom half of the globe, with "don't mix" on the left and "and ammonia" on the right.

"fertile with sugared water." is at the very bottom.

The overall texture of the background suggests crumpled or wrinkled paper.

I've never set out to be an essay writer, but the times demand speaking up, not silence. My piece “Leave Space for the Redemption Arc” is out now in the new Substack, Roses in the Swamp 🌹. Democracy only works if we leave room for mistakes, growth, and second chances.

It’s wild how some people act like being kind and inclusive is radical when really it’s the baseline of just being human.

Wow, thank you! That’s such a lovely compliment. I love the idea of my poetry serving as an epigraph.

And here's the poem. 🥰
A black background with white text of a poem titled "Millennium Girl." The poem reads:

“A pop song, bath oil beads,
butterfly hair-clips,
candied dreams—
Hope was a dELiAs* catalog,
blow-up furniture,
wide-legged jeans.

Reality, a monthly bleed,
essential needs,
worn-out tunes, split seams,
rent-to-own, hand-me-downs.
Molded by what
I couldn’t consume.”

The distrust is real, and it didn't come from nowhere. But compassion can't be conditional. Sometimes sitting down with and listening to our neighbors feels like the hardest work. But when we listen to others and care about their problems, we create the opportunity to change their hearts and minds.
