It is going to be in the teens tomorrow when I go to work tomorrow. It is still fall for the love of Pete. If it going to be that cold, we should stay at home. Southerners don't have adequate cold weather gear!

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.

I couldn't find any ornaments that I liked on vacation, so I came home and found two brass ornaments on Ebay that were Charleston specific and I added those to the tree this year.

The tree is decorated. We still need to put the sandbags around the base, and then put on the tree skirt. I didn't put on all of the ornaments, but I am very happy with it!

I'm going to decorate my tree now. I've got eight boxes of ornaments, which is down a box since I did a major purge in January 2024. I'm going to put on some John Rutter & the Cambridge Singers Christmas music and enjoy myself.

I was at work at the reception desk when Columbine happened. I couldn't believe it. I thought surely we would never see anything like that ever again. Now there are back tp back mass shootings across the globe and it breaks my heart.

Heartbreaking and horrifying to go to bed reading about the mass shooting at Brown University and wake up to read about the mass shooting at a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach. Thinking of the victims, their loved ones, and those affected by the hate that drove these attacks.

Tomorrow I've got to decorate the tree, do wound care, and check on my aunt and uncle. Oh, and wash my jeans and nightgowns.

I haven't napped in a week. Progesterone has been a game changer. I haven't gone this long without a nap since the Before Times.

The tree is assembled. We put the first three strands is lights on, and then worked on getting the branches in order. I just had a dinner break, and we are going to finish with the lights.

I got together a bag of clothes tp consign a couple of months ago. It has not moved from my bedroom. I just put it in my car and I am going to take it to the thrift shop that helps disabled people get mobility devices. I consider that a win!

I have been cleaning up the den, and going through paperwork. We have so much paper still leftover from what we brought back from my parent's house. I am shredding mom's will because since she died 11 years ago I'm pretty sure we don't need it!

In Iowa: our water is filled with nitrates from big Ag, making it undrinkable, our cancer rate is the second-highest age-adjusted rate of new cancer cases in the U.S., behind Kentucky, with rates rising, we have high levels of radon, and one of the worst rates of economic/personal wealth growth.

I am picking up the den so we can put the tree up. This is going to be a major undertaking, and I am so excited to be able to sit on the sofa and read my tablet by the Christmas tree!

Marriage is wild. My spouse just learned I have aphantasia. And when I say I have aphantasia, we are talking I am a full on five. I can't picture things mentally. I know what an apple looks like, but can't see a picture of one when I close my eyes.

Just thinking about when I was in French Club in 10th grade and I took a bottle of Calvados to the meeting because I made authentic crepes Suzette. I lit them on fire and everything.

There are reports that the FDA intends to put a “black box” warning on COVID-19 vaccines.

This is not in line with the science, which shows that COVID-19 are safe and have saved millions of lives.

This would be a serious abuse of power by FDA officials to further antivax political goals.

I really hate the healthcare system in this country. My kid needs specialized care and the doctor who treats her conditions doesn't take insurance and it costs $400 for a 50 minute in person appointment.

The spouse and I have decided that we are going to put the big tree up in the den this year instead of the living room. We are living life on the precipice!

The spouse and I were watching Dirty Dancing and everytime I see Patrick Swayze I immediately think of the Sadly Dead Baes episode of Thirst Aid Kit. Sigh. #TAKPod #ThirstBucket

Update - my tummy hurt a little after eating the grilled cheese sandwiches. I lowkey thought I had been glutened. Nope! The spouse gave me four servings of bread (1 slice is a serving) and that is 12 grams of fiber, or over 40% of your recommended daily allowance of fiber! !! !!!
I have to go do wound care again, so the spouse is making me gluten-free grilled cheese before I get into traffic.
