But on Labor Day Sunday night, they play Washington at 7:10 PM. Ant idea why that would be?

Also, Caps are going to have $36M (yes, thirty-six) in cap room next year. Promote Lil Pro and Miro, and they’ll have $34M for 2 F’s and 1 D.

If you trade for Hughes and then get him extended next summer, he can sign an 8-year deal. If he decides to leave as a UFA after 26-27, then he can only sign for 6.
Sure seems like whoever trades for him has a major leg-up in getting his services long term. I want the Caps to be that team.

It’s not a surprise the zone entries have been better. Carlson leading the slingshot has been a problem for two years because he’s not a threat to carry the puck into the o-zone by himself, so the PK could focus on the trailer.
Kinda hard to believe, but the power play looked good. Again. And Tom Wilson got a PPG out of it. Was taking Carlson off really the one change needed all along? TBD. #ALLCAPS

Down their best two defensive C’s, Sourdif has been a huge part of their success the last ten days.
Loved seeing Justin Sourdif taking that late D-zone draw after the icing. With Dowd out, JS has fully assumed a lot of his checking and defensive roles and he's done well with them. Some offensive chances that just wouldn't go, nothing new there. He skated over 18 minutes tonight, a career high.
