It took 35 yrs for hardback SIASL to sell 100K copies. Paperback came out abt a yr after the hard—the PB sold 5million in 34 yrs.
That hardback cost $4.50—that was a lot. I read a library hard back but bought a paperback. I think the pb was cheesy—Avon maybe? I remember really crummy paper.

i’ve been thinking about this. It was Pandemic Year 1. If a tenant was already in the house, or if she chose to rent short-term—as seems to be permitted in the loan agreement that’s bouncing around the internet—at some point in my state it became almost illegal to evict, you had to let tenants stay.

Can you put into words what that purpose is? You and the frog have really become icons of this protest.

There’s been a nice overall whimsy that has shown up. The frog is amazing. We had a bunch of other inflatable people here last night, too. I saw people playing Twister the other day.

What they rely on is fear. So by coming out in an absurdist manner, it speaks to them, to some extent, that we’re actually not that afraid.

It also dismantles their narrative a little bit. When they try to describe this situation as “war-torn,” it becomes much harder to take them seriously when they have to post a video saying [U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security] Kristi Noem is up on the balcony staring over the Antifa Army and it’s, like, eight journalists and five protesters and one of them is in a chicken suit.

James’s NY state ethics disclosures indicate that she didn’t rent the Virginia property out for very long.

In her 2020 disclosure, she reported that she received between $1,000-$5,000 in rent from the property.

In 2021, she reported no rental income from the property.

Indictment alleges that James claimed the property as a 2nd home but used it as a rental investment property.

It says she rented the property out but conveniently doesn’t specify the timeframe or duration.

That’s notable bc you can rent out a 2nd home and the rider allows short-term rentals.

An event to honor 250 years of the US Navy turned into another boondoggle.
The president’s disrespect & dismissiveness towards one of our oldest institutions, towards the service of more than a million of us, towards those kids standing there (unpaid, I might add)—ignoble. Infuriating & ignoble.
