Stop Defending Bari Weiss
It is impossible to take her actions at face value given the context in which she is operating.

Agreed on the Robert Earl Keen. It isn’t Christmas until I hear that and Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses.
Nice list. I will not admit that it is Christmastime each year until I hear Christmas Wrapping in the wild. But equally essential to me are Fairytale of New York by the Pogues with Kirsty MacColl and Merry Christmas from the Family (live version, please) by Robert Earl Keen.

US Senators have condemned Russia’s Christmas strikes on Ukrainian cities, calling Putin a ruthless killer with no interest in peace. They noted that while Ukraine agreed to a Christmas ceasefire, the Kremlin chose to bomb civilians in cities including Kherson, Chernihiv and Kharkiv instead.

Trump’s press conference today was among his more haywire performances, and his slushy delivery and meandering answers will not halt speculation about his cognitive health.

Interesting insight here
Even 5 years ago if you had told me CBS News would go this way whereas the WSJ wouldn’t it would have surprised me — ultimately I think purveyors of business news are the only ones insulated from these dynamics because when rich people are paying you for market-moving news you can’t mess around.

Bari Weiss: 60 Minutes segment failed to show Government view that CECOT detainees are due judicial review

On right:

Judge Boasberg Dec 22: "The Government itself has not even contested that the detainees who now make up the CECOT class received inadequate process prior to their removal"

@cbsnews.com is racist garbage under Bari Weiss. Do not watch them.
This was just posted by a CBS News producer on their Instagram stories.

This happening has to mean that she’s ALREADY lost complete control of the news division she’s Editor-in-Chief of. A position that no one with her level of experience should have in the first place (she was an op-ed and book review editor for the WSJ when Trump took office the first time).

If Bari Weiss didn’t know what the Streisand Effect was before this week, she’ll certainly be familiar with it now. This episode of 60 Minutes is utterly damning. The sadism displayed in CECOT is even worse than previously depicted. It’s clear why she felt the need to protect Stephen Miller. Watch!

Anyone working for CBS should just walk the fuck out.
Bari Weiss spiked the CECOT story because she wanted to have Stephen Miller included and demanded to control the language 60 Minutes used to describe the men who were brutally tortured after being sent to El Salvador without due process.

Sometime around 2029
Hours before 60 Minutes was set to air a story on deportees who were sent by the Trump administration to prison in El Salvador, describing “brutal and torturous conditions,” 60 Minutes announced that it has pulled the segment and will air it in the future.

Why would anyone risk themselves to go on 60 Minutes after this? How can viewers ever trust CBS News to report fairly on topics this White House is sensitive about?

Every time a Trumpist goes on TV and ritually humiliates themself to advance a stupid Trump point I remember the time that asshole Joe Francis was made to humiliate himself with a dildo on camera at gunpoint
FOX: If you cut something by 100%, the cost goes down to 0. If you cut it by 600%, the drug companies are actually paying you

LUTNICK: What he's saying is if a drug was $100 and you bring it down to $13, it's down 7 times

F: Not a 600% cut

L: But it's 700% higher price before. It's down 700% now

Why yes, that's how normal people talk
The DNC's failure to release the report also seems to evade taking a public stand on some of the biggest questions in the party right now, such as how to talk about immigration:

If you think Trump's march to authoritarian power is unstoppable - or already a fait accompli - just note how panicked and weak he was tonight and he wheedled and whined about nothing is his fault.

That's not a man who thinks he's winning.
