The latest podcast is now available on your podcatcher of choice.

We’re joined by return guest @meepleandthemoose.com to discuss Final Fantasy, both the series' legacy and the debut where it all began. We talk remakes and reinterpretations, monsters and manuals.

They're pretty stylish! I am fighting with the camera a lot, but the gameplay is super addicting! I should be doing other things but I keep saying "one more battle"...

It's quite the jump to go from Zelda monopoly, Cluedo, and Carcassonne to Arcs!

I will say the dialogue is much more intense than any of the Final Fantasy games I've played up to this point.

For context, I LOVE Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance and A2. I tried to play Final Fantasy Tactics in 2009 on my PSP, but it feels clunky and slow in comparison. And then I got softlocked when Ramza was trapped in a duel he couldn't win. I quit the game at that point and never looked back.

Well, since everyone seems to be so keen on the remake, no better time than the present to give Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions a shot.

Underwater Cities is one of Suchy's very best games. The arc of resource generation is really satisfying.

Food poisoning sucks, it's true, but I'm a look at the bright side kind of guy.

I've lost 4 pounds! 💪💪

Penultimate - it means next to ultimate. I've seen it used to mean ultimate way too many times.

Irregardless - I use it from time to time to bother my spouse.

Other than the word “literally,” what’s the word people constantly misuse that figuratively drives you crazy?

Played the Lord of the Rings Adventure Book Game today.

It's a very simple cooperative experience that provides ✨vibes✨

It's fine, but it's not that interesting. Move minis and shuffle cards.

There are a lot of other, quite good LOTR games out now. I don't see why you'd play this over any others.

Teaching rules can be really stressful! If a rule gets missed or interpreted wrong, the whole play is spoiled!

Got this lovely message from a friend this morning! Either I did a really good job recently, or he had a bad experience with someone else! 🤣

Game Pass' enshittification was always inevitable but if they're cranking up the temperature this quickly (an extra $10 a month!) they must be really feeling the squeeze. I've dropped it since the BDS protest and I assure you it's not as vital as it feels.

Hogwart's Legacy AND a huge price hike? I kinda want to sign up for Game Pass just to cancel it.

Heck yes! Smoked wings don't need anything added to them. A pub I cooked at for a year in Saskatoon would brine their wings, smoke them, and then deep fry and toss in salt and pepper, and just thinking of those wings now is making me salivate...

Playing The Game Makers left me with some thoughts.

The game is mechanically sound, but the theme, which should excite me, just left me feeling a bit icky. It feels less of a love letter to board games and more a monument to unchecked capitalism

If I had a nickel for every time a board game about making board games came out, I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's odd that it happened twice in such a short time frame. The first to hit...

I have a couple plays under my belt now, and am ready to hear your advice. What are the general strategies you employ?

I feel like it's a pretty tactical game, so many of your decisions are going to be influenced by what the other players are doing, but I'm keen to hear what you have to say.

Got to play Reiner Knizia's Mille Fiori with the Masterpieces expansion last night. A pretty decent card drafting point salad type of game. A lot of the game is trying to be the player who jumps on a point scoring opportunity when it's most ripe, which is hard to do in a 4 player game.

Oh, butts are serious business. We reserve butts for the most critical of times. When we're playing pretend
