Cat lover, crafter-in-training. Not a doctor. Former Michigander. Navy spouse (Ret) and AF brat.
I followed a low carb diet, exercised and kept ny glucose levels st as ble enough that I didn't need insulin. My blood pressure was stable, I kept all my doctor appointments with the OB practice and the monthly visit with a maternal fetal specialist. /5

I gave birth to a son when I was 44. There was so much potential for a bad outcome. My pregnancy was good until it wasn't. Since I was at risk of developing gestational diabetes ( age, weight, family history) I got tested early and diagnosed at 16 weeks. /4

I loved Noah in the "Bucket Job" where his spy master alter ego seemed to be channeling Maxwell Smart. That eye patch and thin moustache!
The Lumberduke started as some silly joke we made in the writers' room that had nothing to do with anything. I was EXTREMELY excited to find a way to put it in an actual episode.

And Noah, of course, made it glorious.

Correction to original post. I created lists, not feeds. Hope that clears up any confusion.
I created my own feeds, then added related accounts. Categorizing took a while but made Bluesky a lot more enjoyable. My feeds include writers, reporters, military, medical and legal people, plus cats and Star Trek faves. It cuts down on the hate posts and gives me joy and fun topics.

Husband and I got our Covid boosters today, at our local Safeway (we live in MD). No questions asked about medical condition for either of us. I do automatically qualify since I turned 65 this year. Highly recommend calling grocery store pharmacies instead of just CVS, especially in MD.

This story is an absolute gem for anyone who lives with and lost cats (or dogs) to natural causes. Our furry companions help us mark the passing of time.

In honor of #Caturday, let me introduce our new resident, Marley. She is an older cat needing a new home for good reasons. She's a real sweetheart.

Adding to my post: I never thought about red or blue states when the troop was planning a camp visit. Nature doesn't care how people voted. I put my faith in the people who would be caring for my son. And I believe those counselors in Texas did their level best to protect those kids.
I think about my son and all the Scout camps he attended in places where nature makes its power known. Until he came back from each trip, my heart stayed in my throat.

H/t to @charlesgaba.com for posting this Doonesbury strip. It captures the need for a Trump translator better than anything I could name.

When are journalists going to call out Lutnick's bad reputation about 9/11? He canceled health insurance within days for the families of Cantor Fitzgerald employees who died in the tower collapse. There are other horror stories out there about him that need to be mentioned.
this is the plan for a lot of these guys. fund govt with tariffs. that's not just a flat tax. it's a consumption charge. So effective tax rate wildly hirer working class middle class than for any rich person.
Commerce Secretary Lutnick is on Fox News and just pitched this plan to abolish income taxes below $150k. He wants to abolish the IRS in 2-3 years and establish the External Revenue Service which would handle tariffs and the "Trump Gold Card" to buy a residency visa.

I pushed Discover to the very end of my feeds so I could ignore it at my leisure.
if I could press a button and make the Discover feed cease to exist I would dislocate a finger pressing that button so hard

@ivandragomiloff.bsky.social Did you choose your screen name from the Oliver Reed character in "The Assassination Bureau"? If so, great choice.

I tried a new medium this year, sublimating pictures on mugs. It took a few tries to get the heating process right but the final products were gift-worthy.

last year business insider discovered a COVID relief fund meant for struggling arts venues had given $200M+ to wealthy musicians. they’ve got receipts for how lil wayne, chris brown, and alice in chains spent taxpayer money.
How rich musicians billed American taxpayers for luxury hotels, shopping sprees, and million-dollar bonuses
Pop stars took advantage of the SVOG grant, using COVID relief funds for luxury spending. Lil Wayne bought Balenciaga and flew private.

A big thank you to all the people who posted tips for using Bluesky more efficiently. It's upped my use of this app exponentially. I've created lists of my favorite follows and pinned them so they appear first. 🤩

@megaholt.bsky.social I followed you because your profile mentions Detoit and nursing. Grew up in the city; mother and 3 sisters were nurses. Happy to live in a blue state but still love the Mitten.

During the first year of Covid, I worked on my crafting skills. This year was devoted to sublimating images onto everyday products. Here are some that give me great pleasure

@deannaraybourn.bsky.social I bought your book "Killers of a Certain Age" when it was first released on Kindle. Last month I finally read it! What a fun story! Will there be a sequel or a movie coming next year?

A family member always posts this classic Halloween photo every year on social media. This year I'm sharing it because it's me, my Dad and our family dog, early 70's.

Lessons learned: get boosters when available, rest and quarantine when possible. Take sick days even if your job discourages it. Mine did not but other employers can and will be Jenks. Ignore them if possible. /end
