Yesterday we launched our #Oakworth #Remembrance #Trail. We installed 96 boards on lamp-posts around our village, next to, or close to the homes of the Oakworth men who died in the first and second world wars. A QR Code guides visitors to their biographies on our website:

Just added a section from the local newspaper describing the solemn mass at St. Anne's Church shortly after they dedicated their Great War Memorial. The memorial is one of #Keighley's finest and their ceremony must have been quite an occasion:

One of my favourite collections that I've ever worked with was this set of Magic Lantern Slides produced during the First World War. They came to us packed in wooden crates, and we re-housed them into custom-made archival boxes, and had them digitized.

Death penny for 2286 LSgt William Hope Jones, 3rd Bn, Mons Reg. The penny has been elaborately framed in wood and brass. LSgt Jones died of wounds on December 20th 1915 and is buried in Wimereux Communal Cemetery, near Boulogne. He was 25 years old.

The latest addition to our website blog is Private Walter Blenkarn of #Keighley and his story is available to read here:

Wounded three times, he died of the last one in a hospital in Manchester. His family had it's fair share of tragedies with several child deaths.
