Donald Trump has heard the wails and lamentations of all the Rust Belt communities left behind by neoliberalism, and he has a message for them: fuck you and die

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Can we crowdfund for a tuba player to follow these guys around Chicago

Don’t think these Texas National Guard guys are going to be chasing any immigrants around Chicago on foot

I refuse to play the condemnation game. Let me make myself clear. I do not tell oppressed people how to resist their oppression or who their allies should be.

Also asking other people to sacrifice themselves in that manner is pretty fucking ballsy

before everyone pretended to give a shit about Israel's crimes, there was the march of return. it was a peaceful demonstration and it perfect for displaying the brutality of their zionist opponents and the world at large, including you, Asha Rangappa, weren't moved at all

We’re in a moment now where it would be worth people taking three hours to watch Gandhi, particularly the scene of the salt march. There is value to making the brutality of your opponent so plain as day that no one can argue with it. The clarity of that brought down an empire

HERE IT IS:

1 in 40,000? 1 in 200,000? Who knows. But it's likely the only leucistic California Towhee I'll ever see.

Finding it took over 5 hours, I got about 20 seconds of solid shooting time thanks to ravens and squirrels, but it was WORTH IT! 🪶
A California Towhee but it's nearly all white, in a tree The bird running across grass
