sorry if I missed it, but is this Shiny app already online somewhere? would love to browse through an open science blog archive! :)

Super happy that I can finally move statcheck to another server! Thanks @seanrife.bsky.social for helping me out with this :)

While I'm setting everything up, there might be some hiccups at statcheck.io. You can still visit the stable michelenuijten.shinyapps.io/statcheck-web/ in the meantime.

To be FAIR: Theory specification needs an update! Theories that others can reuse and update help navigate the "theory crisis". The theorytools R-package now has tutorials showing how to make theories FAIR and use them to select covariates, simulate data, etc

What if you want to deviate from you preregistration but keep the label "confirmatory"? Cas Goos introduces multi-stage registration as a solution.

Read all about it in the semi-new (I somehow missed a month of blogging?) blog post from the Meta-Research Center:

Already having terrible FOMO about the Metascience conference :(

I registered for a couple of virtual symposia, but missed the one about using AI in detecting errors. Does anyone know if the session is available online?

📣New Preprint Alert!

Esther Maassen meticulously simulated the effect of p-hacking and publication bias on effect size & heterogeneity estimates.

💡bad: selective outcome reporting & optional dropping
💡bad: publication bias
💡not so bad: optional stopping/outlier removal

Fantastic blogpost for our Meta-Research Center: @anoukbouma.bsky.social argues that meta-scientists - especially tool builders - could learn a lot from marketing. Taking a user-perspective when designing a tool can be a crucial missing step that can help us increase take-up of proposed solutions.
anoukbouma.bsky.social
I wrote a blogpost on something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately: how metascientists could (and should) think more about their users when designing tools and reforms.

Would love to hear any thoughts on this topic!
