So Keir Starmer's immigration plan is to tighten up Theresa May's "Hostile Environment" immigration policy. Good grief, no scandal will be left untouched by this Labour Gov't.

Appalling from #KeirStarmer, villainizing immigrants rather than thanking them for invaluable contributions. They are a vital part of our communities- our colleagues, friends, partners, neighbours. Dangerous, divisive & inaccurate. #UKlabour impossible to support

When will Starmer learn that no matter how good his Nigel Farage impression gets, it won't save him from wipeout at the hands of Reform? Here's another idea - how about doing the work that's needed to actually make people's lives better? 🧵

I lived there when the banks were a highway and it's so magical now whenever I get to go back!
The bank of the Seine in Paris used to be space for cars. Now for several years it’s been a special place for people in a city making more & more of them. All it took was leadership. Oh, and fighting and winning a court battle when that leadership was challenged. HT @emmanuelspv.bsky.social for pic.

“PEDESTRIANS GOOD LUCK”
This junction near me is crazily car-dominated- two pretty major roads and zero crossings for pedestrians.

Someone near me has found a creative way of pointing it out 🤣

Already an inescapable conclusion for anyone who agrees that Iraqi lives are as valuable as everyone else's that this man is the worst UK Prime Minister in living memory.

But his ongoing efforts to secure that title remain something to behold.
I have never seen a situation so dismal that Tony Blair couldn't make it worse.

Relief this morning about the Canadian election results. But it's a reprieve rather than a triumph: probably a minority Liberal government, with a hefty Conservative Opposition that has tacked radically to the right, and leads with younger voters. Without Trump, Canadian Trumpism would have won.

Cyclist murdered by a car driver during a closed road cycling event called Etape Loch Ness near Inverness. Condolences to his family and friends. Interested to see the sentence after a week of news about cyclists facing a life sentence if a pedestrian is killed.

Half of business owners on this Toronto street estimated that more than 25% of their customers arrived by car.

In fact, it was 4%.

And the % of customers who who walked or cycled? 72%.

Retailers routinely overestimate the # of “car customers.” Via @carltonreid.com www.forbes.com/sites/carlto...

Thames Water has been given a £3 billion bailout, paid for by you and me.

Why should households have to pay for the mess that Thames Water got itself into, just so execs and shareholders can protect their profits?

There is a better solution: take water into public ownership.

My thoughts go out to the cyclist’s family. Their grief has been compounded by a killer driver that lied repeatedly and a judge that in the face of all this decided to rob them of justice.

To the judge on their sentence: is this how little a cyclist’s life is worth?
