Another reason why social media, and especially algorithmic shortform social media, is the worst method I know of for learning about both news that matters *and* the silly video game opinions of people I don't know.

My critical thinking can't keep up with the deluge. Scrolling feeds has made me more accepting of info without taking the time to verify all of it because there's too much. I've always tried to be skeptical but being presented with info all the time I didn't search for makes it harder to practice.

I'll keep saying this over & over - nobody got into shmups to play novice modes. They got into them because they saw Hibachi, Larsa, an Ikaruga double play or something like that. Devs gotta be confident & have a punk attitude & spend less time thinking about novices

Some modern STGs are conscious of possibly being anyone's first arcade scrolling shooter, and bend themselves into knots trying to be an entire genre tutorial before being their own identifiable game.
