I’ve never thought it was this. Politicians have thick skin. I continue to think it’s Trump owns the election machine(s) and they know they have no shot at keeping whatever it is they think of as their job if they don’t have his backing.

They're not afraid of his mean tweets. They're afraid of his rabid and violent cultist followers. The issue is if they go too far in Trump's direction, they'll get threats regardless for being sentient tumors on our democracy.

Resistance fighters face worse.

Soldiers in war zones show more courage.

This is both.

I don't think they fear mean tweets.

I think they fear death threats against themselves and their families.

probably worse.

they are dealing with a mob boss and a well-funded gestapo.

they are capable of the worst political violence.

Every elected official, regardless of party, is supposed to serve the people not the president.
Republicans have no courage and no shame. They all fall in line behind their orange dictator.

It's amazing to me that Indiana state lawmakers, facing retribution and death threats, can find the courage yet our federal elected officials with security details display nothing but fealty.

I agree. I think "our" billionaires should fund security provided by & for people of integrity who have left (or want to leave) or been fired by the administration. There are probably skill sets going to waste that could be used to fix the R foot soldiers and encourage departure.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the FBI or any national law enforcement agency to come to our rescue. From all indications it would seem the oath to defend the Constitution in actuality is optional.

Republican foot soldiers threaten the lives of politicians and their loved ones. That's how they got Rs in line, now judges and Ds. Where is the FBI? Blue wall, in on it? The plutocrats just bought the MSM.

They are threatened by more than that.

But, even so, they should put the country first. That's their job.
