This is infuriating. What is the point of a Marine Protected Area if trawlers are allowed to keep ploughing it?
Yet again, the government has succumbed to commercial lobbying.

1. This is something I've been saying for 25 years, but it's hard to get many people to listen. What counts is not the new energy sources you add, but the old ones you retire. Unfortunately it's politically easier to build renewables than to shutter fossil fuels.🧵

The Renewable Illusion: Why Fossil Fuels Keep Winning
Global renewables hit records in 2024, but fossil fuel use still rises. Here’s why solar’s surge isn’t enough—and what the latest energy data really shows.

It really is remarkable that we have an opportunity to avert climate disaster and it is also the smart economic choice.

That hasn't always been the case.

Now it is.

Lower energy costs, lower health costs and huge averted climate damages.

And yet still, we let the greedheads win.

Mass starvation stalks Gaza as deaths from hunger rise
Aid agencies warned for months that Israel’s harsh limits on food aid would bring acute malnutrition and widespread suffering to Gaza’s 2.1 million people.

You won't find more beautiful batteries than you will in Victoria, Australia! Neighbourhood batteries are great because they act as an extra buffer, allowing much more rooftop solar to connect to the local distribution grid without bothering grid operations at the transmission level.

Composting food waste can reduce methane emissions. Easy to do. Proven technology. Really cheap.

“When finished eating, people tend to just toss what’s left: out of sight, out of mind,” Dou said. “But from the resource and environmental perspective, what happens after actually matters a lot.”

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

The idea that we can "easily" overthrow the regime in Iran is a fantasy of people that have never served. Afghanistan is back in the hands of the Taliban after 20 years of slaughter. Iraq still isn't peaceful. Libya is a war zone that's been in civil war since we dropped bombs. History is screaming!

It's the middle of the night in Tehran. Trump leaves the G7 summit, has his National Security Team sit in the situation room to brief him. He tweets that 10 million people in Iran need to evacuate immediately, and this was just a vibe he had.

I just...
Q: What was the thinking on the call for Tehran to evacuate? Is there a threat or incoming?

TRUMP: No not at all. I want people to be safe. And that's always possible. A thing like that could happen.

The military parade for Trump’s birthday was supposed to be a media spectacle, but the news is overwhelmingly assassination of Minnesota lawmakers, Israel-Iran war, and No Kings protests. Which, ironically, are all things he, to varying degrees, caused.
