Adobe: Did you generate that image for the kid’s book cover assignment?

AI: Sure did boss, real fuckin sexy just like the training material, lack of sensitivity controls and hidden prompting tuned for maximum engagement asked
This was just sent to me by an LAUSD parent. A 4th grader was assigned to design a book cover for Pippi Longstocking using Adobe for Education. Here is what the AI tool generated:

Really love how this guy posted this on TikTok thinking the woman who broke his Meta glasses would come off as the villain, as opposed to him, the guy recording her without her consent for social media content via a surveillance device made by one of the worst companies on earth
Woman Hailed as Hero for Smashing Man's Meta Smart Glasses on Subway
A New York subway rider has accused a woman of breaking his Meta smart glasses. She was later hailed as a hero.

I actually think people aren’t making enough of these “symbolic” acts by the administration: they’re so naked in their bigotry that I think many would find them shocking if they knew about them
It might be easy to find things like this merely petty or superficial, but that would be a mistake. Demeaning, erasing or eliminating celebrations or acknowledgments of Black America is straight from Redemption playbook, and is intended to reinforce the racial hierarchy and signal its reinstatement.
National parks change prioritizes Trump birthday over days honoring Black people
Free entrance days at national parks no longer include MLK Day and Juneteenth.

Today Shane announced AUTECHRE GUITAR, a full album of acoustic covers drawn from Incunabula, Amber, Tri Repetae, & LP5, out February 27 on Bill Orcutt’s Palilalia label. It's stunning. I wrote the liner notes, which you can read on Bandcamp now.

A """funny""" thing I've noticed is that if you see a buckwild and totally made up claim on Reddit and then search that claim on Google, trying to source it, the Gemini AI summary will be like "oh, yeah, that totally happened, and my source is that three hour old Reddit thread you were just reading"

Perfect. FIFA is basically Trump’s ideal institution: nakedly corrupt, utterly tarnished, essentially a mafia operation that uses their brand power to escape taxation and accountability
Football’s governing body has so far remained tight-lipped on the identity of the winner. When asked if the US president would receive the award, Gianni Infantino said: ‘You will see.' on.ft.com/4rFzSLT

I’d forgotten that all 3 worked on the recount. Good reminder that the GOO’s uneasy relationship with democracy didn’t start with Trump
Agree with this thread. Worth reading in full.

25 years ago John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, and AC Barrett all worked on GWBush's 2000 Florida recount team. What they're doing now is, if anything, more nakedly partisan.

Fire-breathing dissent by Kagan, with Sotomayor and Jackson.
They're not even trying to appear nonpartisan anymore.

feels exhausting to even point out but very recently these framings were exclusively found in white nationalist circles
Fox News' Will Cain: "I’m sure there are very honorable law-abiding upstanding citizens and contributors from the Somali community here in the United States, BUT..."

He goes on to say "we aren’t going to pretend here that all cultures are of equal value or the same."

If it wasn’t for viral video, kids would be big fans of the war that has created the largest number of child amputees per capita
It's become normal now for high-level political figures to argue that an entire generation was brainwashed through fake videos into mass anti-Israel political mobilization by TikTok. Complete conspiracy thinking, rooted in zero evidence, based on nothing
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

Uh, I think you’re mixing up the 2 kinds of antisemitism.

The one is the belief that Palestinians deserve better than indiscriminate slaughter (sometimes expressed by Muslims), the other is Jew hatred.

It’s clear which one Braverman thinks is a problem.
"Why is anti-semitism tolerated in the UK?" asks Suella Braverman, shortly before defending man accused of saying "Hitler was right" and telling Jewish people they should be sent to the gas chamber

I see this metaphor (or similar ones) quite a bit, but just want to point out how the “suicide” is two plus years of utter destruction perpetrated by the IDF, as if it was simply the inevitable consequence of Oct 7th (all while *Palestinian* agency is emphasized)
The term applies to the IDF under BiBi *and* to Hamas, was my point. Palestinians have agency, as does the Arab and Muslim world writ large. From my perspective, 10/7 was a suicide bomb strapped to Gaza. They were banking on above-ground Palestinians taking it in the teeth yet again.
