We bought some Edgar Allen Poe-themed kids books for Little Bit before Halloween, and she is so into them that she has them memorized. We just turn the pages and point to the lines and she recites it for herself.

She can’t read yet, but boy, it feels like it is around the corner at this point.

I’m sure I said on here a while ago that the Epstein files would be disappointing if they were actually released, but what we have already was juicy enough that damned if I’m not very entertained.

Like, let’s absolutely get the Larry Summers of the world out on the open. Let’s talk about it!

Rancho Gordo Club day! One of my favorite days of the quarter, when I find out what new beans I will be raving about to my foodie friends (and anyone else unlucky enough to engage me in conversation about food).

All these nutty manosphere podcasters are always trying to whip up furor over the supposed fall of Western civilization, but where I really think Western civilization went wrong isn’t letting in immigrants or letting women vote, it was when we normalized belts and made suspenders weirdly rare.

Every time I see another stupid article about the Super Bowl halftime show I want to gouge my eyes out. What month is this?? Good or bad, I should not have to care who is doing a ten minute music set while I pop more wings in the oven four months in advance.

The new couch arrived this week. $2400 for a three seat sectional with a chaise, in burnt orange. It is my dream couch.

I wish I could go back in time to meet the me of 12 years ago who bought the previous couch and slap him in the face.
I’m in the market for a new couch, and I’m trying to talk @macaronbaker.bsky.social into buying it in burnt orange. She messaged the family group for moral support on the matter, but forgot that my whole family went there too.

I’m so disappointed with this new Horizon game announcement. I loved how much character the designs in the previous games had, and now they look like generic Asian MMO characters.

I want to get off Mr. Bones’ Wild Ride.
This is an absolutely insane administrative process. Within the space of a week, states were told by judges/White House
*no SNAP benefits
*half benefits
*full benefits
*pause provision of benefits.
Result is chaos, uncertainty, and uneven access to benefits depending on where people live.
NEW: The Trump admin told states it must immediately "undo" the work to provide full food stamp benefits, or face penalties. The feds sent this in a late-night memo, only adding to the chaos and confusion around SNAP. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/09/b...

Little Bit has what appears to be her first little crush on a boy in her class.

Yesterday she spent the whole afternoon bawling because he wouldn’t let her give him her cat stamp (even though, she says, he loves stamps).

Today, she says she like him “a lot” and may even “love him.”

If the sandwich didn’t detonate, you must exonerate!
Breaking news: A jury acquitted a D.C. man who was charged with assault after throwing a sandwich at a federal agent.

The one-sided food fight became a slapstick symbol of resistance to President Trump's" summertime takeover of local law enforcement.
Jury finds D.C. ‘sandwich guy’ not guilty of assaulting officer
Sean C. Dunn admitted he flung the hoagie at a federal agent. His attorneys called it a “harmless gesture” of protest as Trump commandeered D.C. police.
