BC Gov was the first to announce that we’d appeal the decision of Cowichan Tribes v. AG Canada et al. We strongly disagree with the court’s treatment of private property, but even as this case continues, we know lasting solutions are found through dialogue & collaboration with First Nations partners
What the Cowichan decision really means, and how we move forward together
Niki Sharma and Spencer Chandra-Herbert: The fact is, you can respect Aboriginal title and protect private property.

While I missed celebrating #LabourDay at home in #Burnaby this year it was a treat to join union brothers and sisters in my hometown #Kingston where the tradition is to hand out fresh food and school

Spearhead is an industry leader in advanced timber fabrication – creating beautiful, custom designed, value-added wood projects here in BC and across the world.
I had the opportunity in the spring to meet the team and tour their site in Nelson.

Holy 💩. So the BC Cons' position on infrastructure projects is that they would cancel projects that are already underway, starting with the Pattullo Bridge replacement (which is almost complete!!).
So basically: Cut everything. Cut bridges, transit, schools, hospitals, cancer centres. Ok. Noted.

#WorldPressFreedomDay in @BCLegislature Still thinking about what we heard about current risks to journalists and journalism. 124 journalists killed in 2024 almost as many as killed in WW2. @keithbaldrey recalled when #Burnaby had 3 local newspapers. It now has none.

Our government has been making record investments in public infrastructure – like the #BurnabyNorth Secondary School . That’s why we’ve introduced new legislation to get shovels in the ground, so we can build infrastructure faster and communities like #Burnaby can thrive.

Happy to see our government standing up for workers and removing sick notes for short-term illnesses.
When you’re sick, the last thing you should have to do is go to your doctor to get a piece of paper saying you’re sick. That's why we're amending the Employment Standards Act to remove the need for sick notes for short-term illnesses. #bcpoli #bchealthcare

Now is the time to continue to support Canadian jobs, find new markets and develop strong ties with countries that aren’t threatening us.

Did you know there are grants and tax credits to help both renters and home owners? Some renters can now claim as much as $400 a year off their taxes. Starting again in May, home owners may qualify to defer or reduce their property taxes.
