I've started learning Inform 7, a programming language for making text adventures. It's natural language-based, which means it's more syntactically flexible than traditional code but more restrictive than natural English. This leads to code that is readable but often very odd and very funny

Spent my first morning of the year reading Anne Carson’s The Glass Essay, a lyric study of femininity and grief and rage in the wake of lost love via the lens of Emily Brontë. Anne Carson is truly one of the best to ever do it www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/48636/...

Night drips its silver tap down the back. SHE She lives on a moor in the north. Spring opens like a blade there. I travel all day on trains and bring a lot of books— some for my mother, some for me in...

MobileSuitLilah's review of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time | Backloggd
When you play a game enough times, engaging with it ceases to be an act of play and becomes an act of ritual instead. That’s the status <em>Ocarina of Time</em> held for much of my life - it was the f...

Played Kinophobia, a text adventure take on games like Obra Dinn, and it’s so good. I love a game that gets me to take physical notes and forces me to make my own deductions

MobileSuitLilah's review of Kinophobia | Backloggd
Truly captures the experience of being autistic and falling down Wikipedia wormholes. It’s fascinating to see a take on <em>Obra Dinn</em> via a text parser, which turns it into an exercise in tunneli...

Every Christmas my parents buy their dog a Mr Bill chew toy complete with voice box. He then proceeds to spend 15 minutes meticulously ripping Mr Bill apart and taking out the voice box and all the stuffing. It’s the highlight of his whole year

T-that Gravity’s Rainbow! What a book. I feel like I spent two months ingesting the 20th century, RAW! It’s distressing how much Thomas Pynchon saw where we were headed *gets hit in the face with a custard pie* www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
