These guys believe men are the default and so anything that isn't about men is a deviation from the norm. It's a version of their peers who get mad at superhero movies with female leads. Masculinity is seen as "neutral," while femininity is seen as "political."
Im not the sharpest tool in the toolbox... but "gender neutral" and in the same breath "male standard" kinda contradict each other no?
