One thing I didn't fully appreciate until I sat on a jury and reviewed body cam footage for myself, is how cops yell contradictory instructions at people like "Don't move" "Put your hands up" "Get the fuck out of here" "Keep your hands where I can see them" etc. all screamed at your face with guns

Police are under no obligation to protect the communities that pay their bills but so many people don’t blink at police using fatal force against unarmed people who behave in any way that’s not fawning servile compliance.

It's so fucking convenient that they get to "fear for their lives" anytime they want to absolve themselves of anything and when we actually fear for our lives because of them and do anything a scared person would do it's justification for our death.

Parents who are estranged from adult children, or even parents whose adult children just aren’t very close with them, don’t seem to understand that people would voluntarily spend time with them if they were pleasant to be around.

It’s so wild to me that ‘Cancel’ can refer to both college students unsuccessfully campaigning against horrible people speaking at important events on campus and the most antisocial bad faith people you can think of harassing women off of social media for the mildest of infractions.

There’s always a bigger fish behind the scenes. No one wants to look the reality of sexual abuse in the face so they invent a grand(er) puppet master they can’t see yet and focus on that. Epstein and Diddy become pieces to a larger puzzle so no one has to take the time to sit with their discomfort.
