So the earth really is flat...in spots, anyway.
From the Needles District, Island in the Sky appears as a massive, flat-topped mesa dominating the northern horizon. Situated approximately 1,000 feet lower than the mesa, the Needles offers a perspective of a towering, sheer-walled 'island' of rock floating above the surrounding canyons.

I see there’s a post about microplastics going around with a photo of drinking straws, so here is my semi-regular reminder that the 3 biggest sources of microplastics are tires (45%), synthetic clothing particles (35%) and paint (~10%).

Some charities like my local food bank have donation matching opportunities offered by foundations & businesses during the holidays, so it's a good time to give if you can.
This time of year can be difficult for many. Not everyone will be in the mood for "merry" anything. Some folks are hungry, scared, and without shelter. Others have little to no support system. Please keep that in mind. Be gentle and kind. Give what you can. Let compassion rule.
