Today's #spacetoberchallenge is "Propulsion". I stopped designing SpaceX-related patches earlier this year, but I would be remiss in not recognizing the engineering behind Starship Super Heavy and the Raptor engines. I did these patches in 2021 and 2023.

#SpacetoberChallenge Day 8: Propulsion

The RS-25 liquid-fuel cryogenic rocket engine, once used by NASA's Space Shuttle Orbiter, is now used by the Space Launch System's core stage. #Spacetober

Can you help?… I’m trying to find my people

I know there’s more space fans here… just not sure how to reach you

Feels weird to ask, but would you give me a signal boost by hitting share?

If you’re new… Hi I’m Cat, I make pretty picture of space 🥹 let’s connect if you like weird space art

Per my daughter's request, the #Inktober #invertober2025 #SpacetoberChallenge mashup now includes #OC_tober 😁
I'm actually ridiculously proud of this one 🌊🧑‍🚀
Black pen on paper drawing of a journal cover in the style of the European Space Agency bulletin. Text reads "number 7, October '25, bulletin" and "Ocean Space Agency." There is a little OSA logo like the ESA logo but with a wave. The picture is of two astronauts floating in orbit around an earth-like planet. One astronaut is a starfish and the other is a scaly foot gastropod. Text next to the magazine lists the prompts for October 7: starfish, scaly foot gastropod, space agency, magazine cover.

Today's #spacetoberchallenge subject is "Space Agency". This patch commemorates a rare convergence of three space agency probes on Mars in the same month in 2021: NASA, China National Space Administration and the UAE Space Agency. I hope such convergences are more commonplace in the future.

#SpacetoberChallenge Day 7: Space Agency

Bringing back this design from 2022 with what I feel like is a very important addition, especially in these times. Words that define what I’ve always understood the mission of NASA to be. Exploration & science for the benefit of all.

#sciart #spaceart #NASA
Vertical rectangular patch style illustration/design. In the center-top region is a deconstructed illustration of the elements of the NASA meatball logo. At the bottom-center region is the NASA worm logo in white with the words, National aeronautics and space administration, beneath it also in white. A thick blue outline separates the center region from the border area. In the border area on both the left and right sides are the words “exploration and science for the benefit of all”. The entire thing is surrounded by a thick red outline. The background is black.

I’ve always liked the spacey design of the European Space Agency’s logo #Spacetober
A full page view of all the drawings in this thread which now includes an ESA logo: a black circle with a white right-offset lowercase “e” whose descender exits the confines of the black circle. Honestly, those were just for aesthetic. I originally planned on putting either the names or more representational illustrations of each constellation there, but I ran out of time.

I’ll probably come back to this one after the month is over and refine it more.

Happy birthday to Danish #physicist Niels Bohr (1885-1962). 🧪🐡🎢 #histsci One of his most famous contributions to quantum mechanics was the Bohr-Rutherford model of the atom. Bohr is shown next to the Bohr model of the Hydrogen atom (all the concentric circles are actually at the appropriate spacing
My linocut of Niels Bohr with the Bohr model of the hydrogen atom and Balmer series of spectral lines. Bohr is printed in blue-grey and wearing a suit. Concentric rings of silver represent energy levels in hydrogen and overlap his head. Squiggly lines go between pairs of silver orbits and match the colours of the line spectra printed below him (left to right: red, cyan, blue and violet. H-alpha is red and caused by a jump from the 3rd to 2nd orbit; H-beta is cyan and caused by a jump from the 4th to 2nd orbit; H-gamma is indigo and caused by a jump from the 5th to 2nd orbit; and H-delta is violet and caused by a jump from the 6th to 2nd orbit.
