Aging housewife. Troublemaker.
Years ago many of the same people pushing liability for social media voted to immunize gun manufacturers from claims. Guns kill many more kids than social media. healthjournalism.org/blog/2025/12...
Guns are the leading cause of death for American children. What to know
In 2021, gun violence replaced car crashes as the leading cause of death for children in the U.S. It has remained since then.

Being opposed to KOSA is not being "for" Big Tech.....it's about being opposed to predators and being for kids. Letting predators & drug dealers roam around is reckless & irresponsible. Start there.
I know it's very unpopular On Here to suggest that law enforcement should handle anything, but my friend @mosy48.bsky.social is entirely correct in this article. KOSA and similar statutes are pointing at the wrong thing. Many people On Here also believe that, of course.

If a 5yo is on a platform like this it's not tech problem it's a parenting problem. FL's child welfare statute would consider this child endangerment IRL. It's time to connect the dots. The Roblox cases are becoming extremely disturbing as younger plaintiffs appear. But not for reasons you think.
Republican Florida AG James Uthmeier says his office is issuing criminal subpoenas to Roblox Corp, calling the video gaming platform a “breeding ground for predators” that puts children at risk.

Child exploitation takes a lot of forms. This is one of them.
This article opens with a 3-year-old forced to represent herself in court. We live in a fundamentally sick country.
There is no sight that more efficiently puts the lie to immigration “court” than the common sight of children “representing themselves.” Children too small to climb into the chair, children in pajamas who don’t know where they are, children not yet old enough to speak.

The person who gets this most effectively is @wyden.senate.gov who has crafted a bill - the Invest in Child Safety Act - that would right size funding, staffing and oversight.

@paultaske.bsky.social take note - a real expert's opinion, an actual victim.
the reality is if any of these politicians cared about the kids theyd call out the predators in their own ranks

like the reality is age verification and digital crackdowns are just... lazy, and they degrade digital spaces.

what they don't do is protect kids particularly well.

@mmasnick.bsky.social never fails us when it comes to focusing on the real issues & facts.
Though, over on X, they are going on and on about how leftists are the root of all the problems in the world, so I'm assuming these "stats" will ignore the overwhelming majority of right wing violence?

The only person who has focused on this in any meaningful way is @wyden.senate.gov whose Invest in Child Safety Act should be the global model for how to protect kids.
The UK's Online Safety Act is a misguided effort to solve a problem they don't understand. The lack of focus on law enforcement ensures the digital crime wave will continue. This is a global crime problem. We have to treat it like one. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/08...
