The whole appeal of AI development to many companies is that senior management wants to ask a simple question to deliver what they want without having to answer lots of stupid questions from developers.

AI may deliver exactly what they ask for, but not what they want.

Kotlin/JS and compose multiplatform to the rescue!

Plus: the whole promise of preventing users from malware falls apart when you look at iOS: if the hypothesis were true, there would be no malware for iOS. But there is. Bad actors adapt, as they always have.
Code signing and key handling for iOS has always been a huge pain - soon on Android as well.

Just listened to adbackstage.libsyn.com/android-deve.... Hate it.
This really is as terrible as it sounds.

Not even addressing the orange elephant in the room (bad government actors!), or that anonymity is often crucial for personal safety.
This feature can, and definitely will, be abused. 1/2
Android Developers Backstage: Android developer verification
To protect users from malware and scams, Android has announced a new layer of security: developer verification. While this is nothing new for Google Play Store apps, Android is extending this to the e...

We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...

Small reminder that IJ is also a wonderful standalone "diff" tool.

It even unfurls your zip files content.

`idea diff old new`

Ohh, that is so helpful - I didn't know that!

There seem to be more, too:
www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/wo...

And the diff even works for images, of course!
idea diff kotlin.png kotlin-logo.png

We can even use it as a default merge tool! 🤯
An IntelliJ window showing a diff window with two images.
The image on the left is showing just the Kotlin K, while the right image contains the K as well as the text 'Kotlin'

So what's Kodee's favourite food? Is it IR bytecode? Haha, have a byte!

Unfassbar.

@mbonnin.net well, let's just say that the reasonable part of my brain told me that 100 might be a bit too much 😅

After seeing this cute Kodee keyring last week at @droidcon.bsky.social Berlin, I couldn't help myself and ordered a bunch of them! They are sooo cute! 😍

Android’s new security screening feature is bad and I fucking hate it.

They wanted a mechanism for Google’s security team to block malicious developers.

But the same mechanism can be used by the state to control what we can do with our devices.
A new layer of security for certified Android devices
Starting in 2026 and in select countries first, Android apps must be registered to a verified developer in order to be installed.
