"Google searches for several of the titles included in the NZME article returned AI-generated summaries that appeared to confirm the books existed, but these search engine summaries were drawing on the original, inaccurate press release."

A better article about the NZME/World Literacy Foundation/AI NZ booklist debacle. Feat. the always fab @taniaroxborogh.bsky.social They've published a list of the fake books - no doubt encouraging AI to keep thinking they exist. The future of the internet: screwed. www.1news.co.nz/2025/12/27/n...

Some have speculated online that some of the fake book titles published in NZME-owned papers may have been AI-generated.

NZME can blame the provider all they want but it’s pretty telling they’re admitting they don’t check what they choose to publish. Like, at all.

Meta earns $3.5 billion every six months from showing Faceboon and Instagram users 15 billion “higher legal risk” scam ad impressions a day, internal documents state.

That haul vastly exceeds how much the company expects regulators

If you are a grant maker please know that your "contact" person very rarely responds to enquiries and always leaves applicants wondering if they should bother with your organisation at all. The quality of your applications relate to this experience.

Such unimpressive writing I'm left wondering what platforms are even paying for? Sounds like a teenage whinge and I spent a week with 800 of them last month.
I paid $320 for a round trip on one of the most scenic trains in the world. It was worth the ride — once.
I rode both ways on the world's most scenic train ride, the TranzAlpine in New Zealand between Christchurch and Greymouth. The ride had pros and cons.

I'm a little confused as to why UN Women Australia has chosen a different #IWD25 theme to UN Women? March Forward vs Rights. Equality. Empowerment. Don't get me started on that other corporate mob.

Experiencing some weird notifications of new followers but they aren't showing in the activity feed. Assuming this is related to the Meta exodus?

Will absolutely miss the delectable dishes at Khamsa Eatery. Apart from fantastic food, Sarah has been a critical voice in the area on the Palestinian cause.

Have to say I really enjoyed "Missing You" another Harlan Coben installation. I would however like to know how one author's work has secured this much TV production budget

I'm getting old. Crossing the Tasman still leaves me adjusting to the 2 hour time difference especially if I have spent anything more than 3 weeks there. I am falling asleep in 3pm meetings and looking forward to shutting down. Takes a full week to adjust.
