10 days left and still 2k to raise for “The Ecstasy of Jenny D”! I believe we can do it but I need your help in making this comic a real thing!
Support & share the KS: www.kickstarter.com/projects/pig...
Colour comic page. At a regency style party, Paloma makes eye contact with a pretty lady, then blushes and runs away clutching her rosary. Colour comic page.Among the clouds Jenny stares intensely into the void and says: “Last night I understood understood something about myself and my place in this world. “
I’ve got the individual issues already but this looks like it is going to tip me over the edge and get the collection! Sucker for a HC!

Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth!!

Hands up who’s used the Graphic Novel Reading Room?
Honestly *the best* service: a pop-up/travelling library where you can browse and read, with Gabbi’s excellent recommendation/suggestions thrown in to widen your horizons. Here we are at LICAF with Gabbi and Matthew Dooley (FLAKE)
A van and gazebo bursting with books! Sitting in deck chairs at the front are the Rickard Sisters (eating as per), Gabbi who curates, owns and runs the amazing Reading Room, and Matthew Dooley who made the awards sensation FLAKE and ARISTOTLE’S CUTTLEFISH. Thank you to Emma at SelfMadeHero for taking the picture
This looks great, the palette really delivers on the weather!

More from my graphic novel in progress.

I coloured this yesterday, and I'm so happy with it that I thought I'd put it out into the world today.

Shares & some reassuring words would be much appreciated
A digital illustrated book cover of Cruise Life - Raining Cats and Dogs by Reese Eschmann. It shows a Black girl chasing dogs and cats on the deck of a cruise while her big brother tries to catch up while holding a cat in his arms. A digital illustrated book cover for the title Unfadeable by Maurice Broaddus. It portrays a mixed Black girl walking by with her pit bull pet, a bridge is seen overhead her, with some cranes in the background and some key characters in the book watches her from a distance. A digital illustrated book cover titled The Season of Styx Malone
It shows a Black boy with a cap and sunglasses on, her smirks to the viewer, and within his glasses you see the reflection of 2 other Black boys, one smiling back at him with enthusiasm while the other smiles more hesitantly. A digital illustrated book cover of a picture book titled Bessie the Motorcycle Queen.
It shows Bessie Stringfield on her iconic Hogs (Harleys) against a backdrop of the Grand Canyon.

Government funding and more publishers (incl outside children’s) to raise the cultural profile of comics and get rid of this stupid stigma which still prevails would be a start.

I’m just humbly suggesting that, should the publishing industry want to tackle the crisis in reading for pleasure rates, and we have research suggesting that there’s no crisis in reading for pleasure rates amongst children who read comics, that there’s maybe a relatively simple solution right here.
Try and find yourself a copy of the anthology so you can enjoy the fruits of Taran’s labours.

A poster of a manifesto about reading, by Loki, with 6 points on reading "bad" books, short books, comics, audioooks, webcomics and fanfic, plus not finishing bad books cos life is too short.
This is fantastic news. Wishing Mollie all the luck in converting folks’ childhood love of comics into lifetimes of enjoyment.

Comics are cool!

I swear to God I didn't write this.
Fake (I think) NYT headlines saying Spouses are more attracted to partners who collect comics.
I’m sold by the art alone! Looks gorgeous.

Throw in arrows, swords, shields, etc and how can you refuse?

Tell you what, kids absolutely LOVE The Phoenix. We’re in Windermere for LICAF and the whole town is awash with families, kids festooned with Phoenix badges, clutching comics and books, excitedly ticking off the shop window art displays.
It’s not like you needed additional reasons to back this book, but here you go!
