The Insignia cruise ship has reported almost 12% of their passengers sick with Norovirus.

4 x more than the required reporting by CDC.

The ship arrives in Portland on 10/26

Is anyone going to warn the residents? People who work in the Old Port?

Why are we subjected to pollution & disease?

The Enchanted Princess in Portland today hits the trifecta:
Air pollution
Water pollution
Noise pollution

USCG claims cruise ships are “exempt” from the regulation that prohibits horns from being used as entertainment. We’re waiting to see the CFR #. If it doesn’t exist, the ship is in violation.

We are not owners. We are stewards. And together, we can take meaningful action.

That is why we are working with advocates to explore a ban on cruise ship scrubbers.”

A triple-whammy in Portland today!
3 cruise ships all idling, spewing exhaust for hours. How ironic that there is a 5 minute idling restriction in Portland but not for cruise ships. They are exempt. Why?

Between 2010 and 2021, six different NCL ships traveled to Alaska and Alaskan authorities cited five ships with a total of 33 water quality violations.

There will be massive cruise ships in our harbor all week.

What damage are they doing to the water of Casco Bay?

How many micro organisms that are vital to the food web are destroyed when they are forced through the scrubber’s sulphuric acid bath?
