Mayor Olivia Chow is introducing fare capping for TTC riders in her upcoming budget. Instead of having to decide whether it makes sense to buy a monthly pass in advance, rides will automatically be free after 47 trips starting next Sept.

Except Budget 2025 proposes cutting funding from the Canada Public Transit Fund towards a more generalized fund, leaving less money on the table for important transit projects and state-of-good-repair 👎

This a step backwards for faster commutes and achieving our climate goals. Not good!

To build Canada strong, we’re building strong communities.

Budget 2025 invests more than $50 billion in new roads, transit, hospitals, colleges, and universities — to empower you with faster commutes, better services, and more opportunities.

$3 billion in annual federal transit funding is in trouble, thanks to Carney's Federal Budget cuts.

Slashing funding for public services like transit is not a way to build a "Strong Canada". Here's how you can take action right now before MPs vote on the budget ⬇️

If somehow the Ford gov reverses course on the speed cam ban, drivers will be left with significant concessions: they’ll know they can go 10 km/h over the limit when the cameras are operating, and as fast as they want on nights and weekends.

Transit riders shouldn't be punished for making the right choice to fight congestion and tackle climate change - taking public transit.

Fare capping is flexible, affordable, and fair.

Chow needs to deliver some change that people can see.

Strong interventions that makes public space better: seating, shade, cooling stations, ice cream, beer gardens, *something*.

The right in 2026 will argue that government is useless and needs to be starved and beaten. Prove them wrong.
I would argue the reason only 10% strongly approve but most people "kinda approve" of @mayoroliviachow.ca is she doesn't have a key visible achievement you can point to the way you can easily with Montreal or Paris. #topoli
