Tough Year for Bikes but Optimism Lies Ahead - Spacing Toronto
Last year was a tough year for cycling and road safety in Toronto. The Ford government secured a third straight majority in February and followed up on last year’s Bill 212 with Bill 60, which banned ...

As with Finch, it would involved reduced operating hours until 11 PM, slightly reduced frequencies, and a lack of TSP which isn't expected until May now.

Finally, it's official! The Eglinton Crosstown LRT will start phased opening on Sunday, February 8 per today's #TTC board meeting while service on that day will be free! #TOpoli #ONpoli

3,100 trips in current conditions is bonkers. Bonkers.

How many more people would choose to ride if the bike lanes (and bike share stations!!!) weren't snowed in?

Oh no! I hope you sent a request to 311 and forwarded it to Saxe. This is unacceptable!

While Toronto's bike lanes such as on Bloor Street are still impassible nine days after the storm, the suburb next door in Vaughan cleared both the cycle track and sidewalk on Jane Street pretty good! Time for Toronto to step up their game ASAP! #BikeTO #WalkTO #TOpoli #VikingBiking #VisionZero

If you haven't already done so, you should send this to 311 and forward it to Councillor Saxe since it's in her ward.

Meanwhile, I bet #TTC CEO Mandeep Lali is feeling like this ahead of today's TTC board meeting which would see the Eglinton Crosstown LRT opening come up. #TOpoli #ONpoli

Per @graphicmatt.com regarding the imminent Eglinton Crosstown LRT opening, "After all this time spent designing and constructing and testing, it seems unfathomable that the project still might not be really ready for prime time." #TTC #TOpoli #ONpoli www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
Matt Elliott: When the Eglinton Crosstown LRT finally opens, they should offer us an apology, not a party
Due to Metrolinx’s veil of secrecy, there are still too many unanswered questions about why everything related to this project has been so slow.

It's a good piece, @johnlorinc.bsky.social. However the lack of bike lane clearing needs to be called out as well. #BikeTO #WalkTO #TOpoli

I heard from @diannesaxe.bsky.social that she's been regularly following up with city staff regarding the Bloor bike lanes. Sent a complaint to 311 on Saturday after the Alex Pretti ride.

Meanwhile in Toronto, most of our bike lanes are still unusable one week after the storm. To be fair, Toronto did get hit with a lot more snow than NYC with 46 cm (18") recorded at Pearson Airport. #BikeTO #BikeNYC #BikeSky
A week after the major snow storm, let's see how the city has done on clearing the streets and bike lanes

Yes, we had a major snow event.

Yes, the city is triaging, and many sidewalks in particular still need work.

But it's been a week and arterial bikeways are remain unrideable and worse appear to be dumping grounds for snow-clearing.

What's the plan, Toronto?

They've been studying high speed rail in this country for decades. While this round is the most serious yet with actual funding, a brand name & them announcing Montreal to Ottawa will be the first segment, I sincerely hope PP doesn't scrap it if his #CPC were to take office. #cdnpoli #LPC #NDP

For those of you support bringing high speed rail to Canada, Alto will be hosting open houses in Toronto this Wednesday and Thursday at St. Lawrence Market North! Something that's decades overdue with even Morocco and Uzbekistan having high speed rail. #cdnpoli www.altotrain.ca/en/public-co...
