reworked a piece from 1y ago, now that i can see all the anatomy & perspective mistakes i made. this has always been my favourite style, though it took me way too much agonizing to render back then to be sustainable. it's much less painful now! #Neuvithesley #genshin

Scenting a beta does nothing, anyhow. Wriothesley might enjoy his presence, might find comfort in that gentle scent of his, but that’s all that it is. Long-time friends. The pining is… pining, but Wriothesley is a-okay with that.

Neuvillette’s lips curl. “A little death only, I hope.” Rough laughter spills from Wriothesley’s chest as he brushes his lips in the faintest caress, back and forth, over Neuvillette’s. “You deserve better than me.” Neuvillette bites at Wriothesley’s mouth, catching his lower lip between his teeth. He tugs, gently, and Wriothesley fits their hips closer together, pressing against Neuvillette’s body. “I deserve what I want,” he says. “And what I want is you, Wriothesley. It has always been you. Please, do not turn away from me now.” Wriothesley seizes Neuvillette’s mouth in a hungry, needy kiss. “Never,” he whispers into Neuvillette’s mouth before slicking his tongue over Neuvillette’s lips.

Wriothesley trails after him. “What about it?” His frown deepens as he shuts the door, glancing at Wriothesley’s tennis shoes. “You didn’t bring boots,” he says, only vaguely aware of what he’s trying to say. What he’s implying. Wriothesley, wearing only his soft pants, lifts a brow. He doesn’t move from where he leans against the stair rail, a smile playing at his lips, his expression comically different from Neuvillette’s own. “I didn’t,” he agrees. And Neuvillette realizes that Wriothesley is waiting for him to be far blunter than he would like to be, to be, as their contract states, transparent. Honest. “It would be inconvenient for you to leave.” “Mm. Probably would be.” Neuvillette sighs. “You could stay,” he finally ventures. “If that is not violating the spirit of our agreement.”

It is easy to imagine, the two of them passing out presents to the children at the fete. Wriothesley handing him a box, Neuvillette’s fingers brushing against his as he accepts the box. Their eyes meeting across the top of the present. A charged, knowing moment passing between them. And then, later, Wriothesley might pull Neuvillette aside, might confess to him that his heart is too full in the way the Neuvillette’s is, and Neuvillette might, at last, have someone to love and be loved by on the Solstice. How wonderful that might be. What a shame it must remain a fantasy.
