It’s Time to Make Art! #webcomic
A four panel comic. In panel one a blonde character holds up some pens and paper, shouting “it’s time to make art!” In panels two and three the character does everything except make art: they mow the lawn, fix a lightbulb, vacuum, do the dishes, take out trash and so on. In the final panel, the character is shown slumping in a chair, exhausted. Another character with brown hair stands behind them and says “you’ve done nothing but chores all day!” To which the blonde character replies “ yeah, I knew I wouldn’t *suck* at those!”

I gave Pacific Drive another chance and I’m really enjoying it this time thru.

I still think the best part of the game is the time spent quietly tinkering away in the garage, repairing my car while listening to the rain patter on the roof.

I swear I’m not a purist but I’m just not a fan of modern xenomorph design which has basically made them velociraptors (from space). Thrilling but not creepy.

Gimme a gaunt upright xeno with plantigrade feet that stalks you like Michael Myers (from space).
A rough digital illustration of the original xenomorph design.

Some xenos about to get fragged.
A digital illustration: three xenomorph aliens emerge from a loading dock door into a misty corridor bathed in red light from an illuminated panel on the wall. A bloody handprint is smeared across the panel. In the extreme foreground, a claymore mine sits with its business end facing the aliens, an ignition wire running off to the left and out of frame. To the far left the corridor joins another perpendicular corridor, and we can see the silhouette of a woman holding a shotgun, her back to the wall and peering around the corner, awaiting the explosion. Graffiti on the walls read “KEEP QUIET!” and “SHELTER 50m”

Kinda funny how the AI actress creators also had to create AI people to shill for them in their all-AI video.

Doesn’t help their case that the pitch video is unfunny, condescending, and creepy as hell.

One day I’ll have more than three!

I hope!

Early pencils. I think I started these in 2023. Only recently finished b/c I was pysched about Alien: Earth.

Pleased with the woman at left, ready to draxx them sklounst.
A rough pencil sketch of a scene. Two women hide in the foreground as two xenomorph aliens stalk a corridor in the background. A digital illustration. Two women hide in the foreground shadows as two xenomorph aliens stalk a corridor in the background.

When I was 12 I saw William H. Macy play a turtle in a children’s TV special.

I stole some of his mannerisms when I auditioned for the part of a turtle in a school play.

Years later I saw him in Fargo and nearly leapt out of my seat. “It’s the turtle guy!”

This is a tough one. RSS feeds need RSS readers, so it requires using Yet Another App.

There may be an opportunity for an app that advertises itself as “a podcast player but for webcomics.”

You just go to a website and bookmark it, it's that simple. And I even have an RSS feed that tells you when I update! Do kids know what RSS feeds are anymore?

I missed the Alien: Earth finale because we cancelled Hulu. 🤷🏻‍♂️

(no great loss imo)

Golden Trails at Daybreak.

[Clip Studio. #art ]
A digital painting of a warm colored trail snaking off into a wall of dark trees. Behind them glows a golden dawn, fading into a deep blue above. There are hints of blue mountains in the distance between the trees, but only hints. (c) Ripley LaCross. Based on a photograph taken on the Pacific Crest Trail 20ish miles south of Crater Lake, OR.

Backstage with my band at D23, we exchanged nods with Chadwick Boseman as he came by to pre-sign some autographs. He then dropped and proceeded to bust out 25 push-ups.

They just want to live!

#webcomics #comics #oldcomputer
A four panel comic. Panel 1: a laptop sits open on a desk. The laptop has a face and is wearing a sleepy expression as if it just woke up. From off-panel, a voice says “oh good, the old thing is finally charged.“ The laptop murmurs “huh? What’s going on?“ Panel 2: the laptop now has a panicked expression as a pair of hands come in from the left to work the keyboard. The laptop exclaims “wait, what year is it? Why is my battery so weak? Oh my god, I’m behind on so many updates!“ as alert boxes fill the screen. Panel 3: the off-panel voice says “shoot, it looks like that file isn’t here.“ A hand reaches in to close the laptop as the laptop pleads “wait! Wait! You can’t…“ Panel 4: the laptop sits closed, possibly forever.
