🤯 Why?!?! Is this the final sentence of this article.

“Both Dermot Desmond and Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary have criticised the Metrolink”.

It’s completely unrelated. They are not public transport experts.

They’re just an ultra polluting billionaires.

This is terrible journalism.

The Irish media bear significant responsibility for Ireland's lack of progress.

The example below illustrates this clearly. Their deference to climate-denying billionaires like Michael O'Leary is so deeply ingrained that it's often overlooked — but it continues to undermine real progress.

this is why #InverteFest encourages you to smell the flowers and ogle the critters. cameras have gotten exponentially better over the years and EVERYONE has a high chance of making scientific discoveries in normal places.

This review clearly shows that macroalgal decomposition rates vary significantly between experimental approaches and are severely underestimated when a refractory pool is not considered, impacting scaled-up estimates of macroalgal carbon export to the deep ocean 🌊🌱

Journalist Anas Al-Sharif reporting from Gaza, shortly before Israel killed him tonight:

“If this madness doesn’t end, Gaza will be reduced to ruins, its people’s voices silenced, their faces erased — and history will remember you as silent witnesses to a genocide you chose not to stop.”

It absolutely makes sense that men are using AI more and seeing more job benefits, because confidently spouting nonsense in the shape of information (what LLMs are programmed to do) has always been much more of a pathway for career advancement for men than for others.

Every. Single. Story. about women not using AI as much as men portray it as bad for their future career prospects (without a shred of evidence) and a result of women being fearful little ladies rather than looking at AI's output and saying "this sucks, it's not going to help me."
For women, the increase of AI use in the workplace may affect their careers: Harvard study
Women are using AI significantly less then men and it’s going to have a major impact on their careers, according to extensive research on the topic.

Yet again, we're seeing horrific reports of the killing of seven children in Gaza this time as they were waiting for water at a distribution site.

UNICEF calls for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, aid at scale and release of hostages.

Parts of the Mediterranean Sea reached 30C this week, much earlier than usual, raising fears for marine life.

For some areas, this is 6 or 7C warmer than usual at this time of year.

Our story with more maps by @markpoynting.bsky.social and me here:

Map of sea surface temperatures in the Mediterranean Sea showing parts of it reached 30C such as off the coast of Calabria, and the islands of Majorca and Sicily. Below the map is a chart showing daily maximum temperature at a buoy next to Majorca where it reached 30C for the first time this early in the season.
