everybody’s jealous of me since I decided to get plastic surgery to have Cuttlefish skin. they‘re resentful because I camouflage myself as a brick wall or a gorseberry bush in order to steal their croissants off their plates at cafes. I’ve never felt so beautiful

For every €1 provided through a Basic Income For Artists pilot program in Ireland, the government got €1.46 back. So it’s being made permanent.

Over and over we see it. It saves public money to provide public housing. And it makes public money to provide basic income.

We can’t afford to NOT do it.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

I hear and see your concerns. Over the weekend, a couple users hosted on Blacksky's PDS were banned from the Bluesky app and thus the Bluesky API servers. This was a weakness of our system I've been aware of and hoped we had more time to address before any kind of public incident. 1/11

In conclusion, SENSE8 is a land of contrasts.
marygillis.bsky.social
For a show that's about empathy, a LOT of hired goons die in SENSE8. Like, a lot. Just so many dead, faceless goons. And I feel bad for their families, because of all the empathy the show encourages me to have.
marygillis.bsky.social
Something that's so refreshing about SENSE8 is its earnestness. Yes, it occasionally gets too earnest, and the overarching plot is kinda silly (the end goal of the evil corp is pretty meh), but mostly it's just a very sweet show about how empathy and connection are good. Also, fighting and sex.

And goddamn, I forgot how hot Wolfgang is.

I admit, I do have a thing for violent, taciturn male characters who are as loyal as they are emotionally damaged. See also Amos in THE EXPANSE.

SENSE8 was so much fun. Not perfect, but so much fun.

And it looks gorgeous. If anything, it's even more beautiful now than when it was new, because since then TV show aesthetics have been getting more and more flat and boring. This show cost a fortune but every cent is on screen.

There are plenty of hilarious things about Stephen Miller that have nothing to do with his height. The fact that he's afraid of Black people. That he hasn't emotionally matured because a Latina curved him for being a weirdo. That he looks like Dracula and Goebbels had a science baby.

Yeah, the horror of the timeline changing is the point of my post.

Kinda weird that you read it and felt I needed to be informed about the existence of Simpsons floating timelines. Do you also think I need to be informed that the characters rarely change clothes?

The plot of the next Simpsons movie should be the kids at Springfield Elementary digging up a time capsule that was buried 40 years ago and realizing they're the same children who buried it because their world hasn't aged in 4 decades.

A bill that basically allows teachers to acknowledge that trans people exist is too spicy for this nazi fluffer
Republicans latched onto the legislation as an example of "gender ideology" at work in state government, with the Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones (R) demanding Newsom veto it.
The bill promotes the "theory that reproductive anatomy does not necessarily determine a person's gender," Jones wrote in a message to Newsom.
"For third grade students the framework states,"
'When
providing instruction on sexual and reproductive organs, teachers can introduce the concept that gender does not always match the sexual and reproductive organs described," Jones said.
"Teaching controversial gender theories to students as young as eight or nine years old is not a practice that most Californians support, nor want to see happening in our schools."
