Just a man in a little bubble on a little island. Mostly bad but well punctuated observations about the movies, games, and books in my life.
Another failed Royal Mail delivery when I'm literally sat in my living room waiting for it. What do I need to do? - hang out the window with a flare up my arse, frantically semaphoring "I'm awake, alive, and present"?

Buying a jar of horseradish sauce these days is total Russian roulette - is it mayonnaise or is it gunpowder? Zero consistency even within the same brand.

Been thinking about the way Nuremberg humanized Nazi high command more than I expected. On reflection, a well-chosen, brave decision, consistent with the idea that those atrocities of WW2 weren't committed by uniforms, but by people.

Still, feel the movie under-delivered as a whole. ⭐⭐ or ⭐⭐⭐...

Grok appears to have started offering this false account about eye-witnesses by generating its view from false rumours on X. It began by saying there wasn't evidence then picked up rumour and misinformation and amplified it

Only Murders in the Building has always been faintly - but enjoyably - ridiculous, but season five smacks of a show led into caricature and shark-jumping by half a decade of poorly analyzed focus grouping.

Everything you liked, but now you're drowning in it. Common story for shows of 3+ seasons.

If I was of a mind to start conspiracy theories, I'd start with Pedro Pascal being the first truly AI movie star. It's the logical explanation for him being in absolutely everything.

Olivia Colman is just so, so good. Up there with the best. The Roses...not so much, but edit out all the scenes without Colman and you'll have a good time.

Breaks my heart that so many people don't realise or care how good cinema is at the moment. Really enjoyed Weapons, and Eddington is just excellent - my IRL social circle hasn't heard of either. Where is the marketing revenue going? (Rhetorical - we all know...)

Just seen this charming illustration on a job advert for professional writers.

Frankly, I'm a bit dubious about this woman's understanding of what 'writing' entails.

Not to mention the name of the café.

Had a pretty good time with Materialists but, whereas Past Lives (best film of 2023, IMO) won me over with how genuine & sincere it felt, Materialists has a sheen of artificiality that was at times jarring. Still, look forward to Celine Song project #3 as obviously a passionate, talented director.

From my current experience (28 degrees in my flat at 7am today), issue exacerbated in studio flats squeezed in & that only have one outside one wall, making any chance of through-ventilation impossible. I have a single balcony door. No other windows. No vent for an A/C unit.

Should be /illegal/ to finish a season on a cliffhanger like season two of Annika has - especially if there's not even currently a plan for a third. Devastating.

The Naked Gun reboot is possibly the third funniest Naked Gun film, and I mean that as a compliment. It comes nowhere near the original - what does? - but it's funny and obviously made by people who love the franchise. Watch it with people who laugh freely and you'll have a blast!

"Is Britain about to blow?" asks Matt Goodwin promoted a two hour special event on the subject.

Their greasy desperation for violence and carnage, so they can profit off it, is so disgusting.

Rolled credits on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 last night. I won't over-egg its impact on my emotional state, but I woke up thinking I needed to start writing eulogies for all the people I've ever loved in my life...

What a game! I was in love all through (but fuck Renoir's 'Vanish' move...)
