I just heard Hamlet and Marc Antony performed in a southern accent and I’m floored. It’s like perfectly suited to the verse, moreso than English accents.

Yeah, “wokeness”, whatever it means, is on the whole good and people should resist the urge to shy away from the label because those who wield it seem supremely confident that it’s a bullet that could stop an elephant.

Changing tables in men’s rooms are good & it’s insane how suppressed decency is.
This is, in complete sincerity, one of the best developments in American culture since my adolescence. The kinds of things grown-ass men would routinely say to me as a teenager about my female classmates could not fly in practically any context today.
I want people to understand that in my youth, a youth that happened somewhere between the youth of Epstein, Trump, Maxwell, ex-Prince Andrew, et al & that of their victims, the term "jail bait" was framed as a compliment.

By this he means we should pretend the American right’s lies about crime rates are true, because they are good at spreading those lies. The same goes for their lies about immigrants and their lies about government spending.
I think the American right is in fact correct about several things and it would be wise to concede that.

I would simply vote for one of the other Democratic candidates: there must be one who is not angry at everyone except himself for getting an SS unit tattoo.
We cannot survive a world where Susan Collins returns to the Senate. If Platner has a better chance of beating her than his 77 year old opponent, then so be it. The Democrats lived with Senator Robert Byrd for years. Look him up.

At one point I thought Trump was a kind of genius, in the sense that he was transcendent. And though he’s more thoroughly proven transcendent, I don’t think he’s really a genius but a blank slate whose success is contingent totally to outside forces.
"Trump’s smart enough to know that overwhelming the public with seemingly asinine ideas and actions creates a disorienting, even blinding effect, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy and making it harder to challenge his lies.

In essence, the stupidity is the point."

Opinion | Trump's weaponizing vulgarity to alter Americans' sense of reality
Trump and MAGA are attempting to rewrite history and remake reality right before our eyes — and they’re weaponizing vulgarity to do both.

Wild to read how people react like the world has gone woke crazy over a Nazi tattoo, when at just about any pre-woke time, merely having a tattoo would’ve disqualified you from the Senate, and most jobs, and the normals would become indignant or condescending at anyone objected.

shocked to learn that the president lied about this and also this is a horrible defacing of a building that belongs to the people of the United States, not donald trump

The largest mass protests by number of participants in US history happened yesterday and the only mention on the front page of the NYT is Jamelle Bouie's opinion column: no diner-diving for sentiments of the unheard masses, no coverage of the Trump video, no sense for what it says about the moment.

Feels like complaining about this on Bluesky or Twitter or wherever is counterproductive. If you’re a member of some group organizing a protest movement, this is a good kind of discussion to have, either during meetings or with your colleagues.

I seem to recall that it was the biggest 1st Amendment attack in American history when the Biden admin alerted social media companies to some content and said "hey does this violate your policies?" Will Matt Taibbi, Michael Shellenberger and (lol) CBS News Editor in Chief Bari Weiss call this out?
October 14, 2025 at 4:38 PM
“Cringe” is a word for teenagers, used to be “corny”, among a catalogue of others, and shouldn’t be taken serious as criticism.
October 14, 2025 at 4:18 PM
He’s also not running CBS. It’s a stupid comment. But this kind of thing mimics Trumpism, in that matters is sustaining the belief in the integrity of the person at the center, regardless of merit. It’s a perversion of the dignity and worth of the individual, a principle that is important and good.
Was waiting to see how Olivia Reingold (who Oliver's piece destroyed almost as much as Bari Weiss) would respond, and you can see the tweet below which also shows she either did not watch his piece, or just didn't understand it, since he actually addresses this point directly.

Olivia Nuzzi cackled over the complicity of media while having phone sex with Kennedy’s brain worms.
The press destroyed Biden because it was safe to do so. That is classic bully behavior.
