People hate their own art because it looks like they made it. They think if they get better, it will stop looking like they made it. A better person made it. But there's no level of skill beyond which you stop being you. You hate the most valuable thing about your art.

Look there's a LOT wrong with sci-fi and fantasy books from the 80s and early 90s but those authors would find the thirstiest, most shameless sicko imaginable and pay him $5000 to draw the horniest, most extravagant cover art you've ever seen in your life and we need to go back to those days

There’s been so many days in a row lately

sometimes I think about the microeconomy of commissions and get emotional if only for the fact there are many artists who are able to make a living based on the interest and good will of fellow working class folks who want to indulge in art. I hold onto that when I start to despair.

not sure if some people understand that part of what makes creating so rewarding is the fact that it *is* hard. It doesn’t matter if you’re been painting or writing for 80 years— every piece will have problems that need solving, and few things feel better than figuring it out.

TIME TO CREATE BUCKAROOS. yes there will be little pieces that you keep seeing and thinking 'this is broken this is wrong' but honestly most of these things fall into two categories 1 they give you flavor and power or 2 nobody even notices. NOW GET OUT THERE AND PROVE LOVE BUILD SOMETHING AMAZING
