Thanks for sharing this. Holyday tops 'redundant', unsurprisingly.

It might give residents an idea of how effective their councillor is. Perhaps also (this is me extrapolating) how many of their motions are performative.

I think Doug Ford benefits a lot from his Queen's Park opposition always tending to assume that his populist instincts are correct, and so they water down their criticism with too much nuance and hedging. He doesn't always know what voters want — sometimes it's just personal grievance.

Bradford's cynicism is unworthy of any leadership. What is not working are the enforcement mechanisms implemented to uphold order (no pun intended), not the policy itself. Sick Kids Hospital indicates the policy works.

The solution is to fix enforcement.

Bradford says council needs to have the "humility" to recognize that the current speed program isn't working. He wants to see "practical road design changes."

Hey, sorry for my late response. I appreciate you taking the time to elaborate on your POV.

I'm generally inclined to oppose protectionism. But in my view, the CCP engage in too many bad faith practices (e.g. dumping), and practice slave labor, so I've ethical & geopolitical concerns about...

Though, I want to quibble with this:

"Still, Lee said it's unrealistic that minimum wages would rise fully to the levels needed and there need to be government investments in non-market and public housing."

He's right. But! We need to improve conditions for market housing, too (e.g. upzoning!)

Young people have to get out the vote, and increasingly show up to municipal public consultations. The social contract has been upended.

Way to go, Chicago, more of this! Kristi Noem is upset that ICE agents in Chicago are being “denied entry” to restrooms and lunch spots.

Reuters photographer Jonathan Ernst noticed that Bondi flipped open a file during the Senate hearing and he zoomed in.

Inside were her crib notes for attacking the senators.

In other words, under oath Bondi was purely a performance.

Liberal, Conservative, NDP, or Green, if young people become a formidable constituency, political parties will tailor their policies accordingly (see: PP's outreach to young Cdns, or Nate Erskine-Smith's focus on general justice).

We are being left behind.

Ridicule works. It's hard to come off being a tough guy when you're staring down someone in an inflatable frog costume, especially when they're twerking at you.

I can't stop looking at pictures of this frog. Reminds me of a time when someone showed up at City Hall in Toronto wearing a banana costume (it may have been Mr. Peanut?). Hilarious.

I think there's a distinction between a joke and a laugh line. This reads and sounds like a laugh line - ha! odd bedfellows in this room! - but it's not a joke. She clearly is happy to make common cause with a roomful of people who want to overturn Obergefell as long as they agree on whatever else!
