@sfchronicle.com your homepage says an earthquake has struck California. The actual article contradicts this saying it was in Nevada.

Allowing people to park in front of their own driveway is effectively privatizing public space, no?

S.F. takes aim at ‘dumb rules’ that Lurie administration says have to go

20 years ago today, the levees failed in New Orleans. I was just starting my freshman year of high school.

Among many lessons from that trying time, the one I have incorporated the most into my daily life is the importance of having a resilient community.

Say hi to a neighbor. Call a friend.

I thought my diet was safe from tariffs since I eat mostly soy, and soybeans are one of our largest exports to China. So I was surprised when my local shopkeeper advised me to stock up on tofu.

Turns up what we grow domestically is not food grade, but rather varieties for animal feed and fuel.

We know bringing back left turns will actually make congestion worse, wrongly conflating congestion with the new bike lanes, and potentially make riding bikes on Valencia more dangerous.

Weekly updates from The Park Today now contain more than just events. Neighborhood cleanups, a brief weather forecast, and park-related headlines are now conveniently tucked at the bottom of each edition: theparktoday.substack.com/p/easter-420...

Great turnout and positive vibes at the grand opening of Sunset Dunes! I enjoyed volunteering at the bouncy castle and bubble making station. Was so busy I forgot to take a better pic (this was a few blocks from the festivities).

Great summary of the shift I’ve experienced in the tech industry over the last 15 years.

> During the 2010s, it was as if companies were their software engineers, and were interested in the same things as their engineers were. A lot of engineers were fooled…

The good times in tech are over
For most of the last decade, being a software engineer has been a lot of fun. Every company offered lots of perks, layoffs and firings were almost unheard of…

Final round of dune grass planting is complete! Excited to watch this area regenerate over the coming years as we direct our energy towards building and restoring other parts of this beautiful oceanfront.

The kale I planted in a grow bag in my building’s courtyard has gotten no love from me in 6 months yet it still gives me free salads 🥗

It doesn’t look like much, but now this portion of the trail on Mount Sutro will survive future rainstorms. We removed the bern (downhill buildup of soil) so that water can flow off the trail. We also cut into the backslope to reestablish the trail’s footprint.

Following up on the installation of fencing and signage last weekend, today we transplanted native dune grasses onto the bare dunes south of the trail at Judah.

We learned how this project will replace the need for bulldozers and dump trucks to constantly move sand down Ocean Beach.
