My son’s friend works right at the business where the truck crashed. He had to duck from gunshots. His other friend left the area 20 minutes before and another was walking that way. I saw pictures of some of the victims, young people, and I retched. Im crying I’m so mortified. Lives stolen.

If you say the safety of New Orleans is among your highest priorities and you send your State Police to ensure it, it's going be fair for us to ask why your people left one of the most enticing targets for crime/mayhem -- Bourbon St. on NYE -- largely unprotected.
