More a jazz and easy listening Liberal than a classical Liberal. Cricket (Northants fan), literature, economics, politics & anything that takes my fancy.

Perhaps the Kennedys are oviparous.

Ah, maybe. I didn’t go there much. I remember buying Guinness and not staying long because it was too crowded. But that was some time ago.

Am game for this if I can play a Tory loyalist who won't fight and knows deep down that if we fail to gain independence, we'll end up no worse than Canada, a commonwealth entity with better health care, a lower poverty rate and relatively sane, coherent politics. God Save The King.

What does it take to be a Revolutionary War reenactor? Caity Weaver traveled across New England and to New York’s Fort Ticonderoga, put on period clothing, and shot a musket to find out:

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

It’s all ancient history ofc but I’m curious, I can’t think of another bar round there where you could get something decent from the hand pump. (Having read this I know it’s all fnarr fnarr but can’t be bothered to amend anything.)

It had a good review in the Times, it’s showing at the Errol Flynn filmhouse soon. I’ll give it a go, it’s a subject I’ve been interested in since I read Oliver Sacks on the topic.

Is it good? Thinking about going to see it.

Trying to think of what pub that would be. The Kings Arms on Poland Street?

Possibly a wise decision, although I found the concept very appealing.

Even in her last stages in power she wasn’t as crackers as that one.

I’ve worked for some bleeding idiots in my time, but none as deranged than that, and they were all eventually found out and moved on before they got the top job.

Cutting away from the economics of it all, there’s also a problem in having a raving madman in charge. As I said at the time, if the CEO of a company carried on like that, would you want to work there? (Let alone buy share in it.)

The problem, in Argentina, was utterly predictable. Milei repeated the exact same mistake of the 1990s, stabilizing the peso by tying it to the dollar, without having the political capacity to reign in spending (driven by state governments) enough to make that sustainable.

Who benefits from the abolition of stamp duty land tax?

The first answer: people buying very expensive homes. Average saving for someone buying a £10m+ home is £1.7m. Average saving for someone buying a £250k-£500k home is £5k.

Your opening hours are fine as they are. Leave the late night hours to the nightclubs, and hotel bars.

Nonsense on stilts. These people are delusional. There’s only so much disposable income around, you can’t magic up more by staying open for longer periods (and paying staff, heat and light etc).

Sod ‘em. I’m still wearing tweed. (I’d only pass as a middle aged Tory these days.)
