The key divide in the Democratic Party during Trump II is between people who want to turn the clock back to 2014 and people who recognize a clean break with the past when they see one. "Let's get back to the way things were" isn't a viable vision for the future and some people have no other.

And please don't interpret that as my arguing that the Padres should keep Preller. I think that he's a miserable failure. I want to see Preller and Shildt sent packing. But in interviews, whoever is brought in needs to commit to building to win now, not tanking.

If Preller did such a good job, then an ambitious young GM should want to build on what he started. This idea that a new GM would have to raze the team and spend another five years on a rebuild is oddly myopic. Also, if the team goes through a tank and rebuild again, I'm done.

Nice. Summers up there are so awesome! Better than SD, imo. Warm, blue skies, and light until after 9. I lived up in Washington from about 2006-12. I consider Seattle to be my second city. I became a Hawks fan after the Chargers left. And now rooting for the Mariners now that the Pads are out
