Got a friend I worry about at times, blursed with atemporal pop culture awareness. But instead of obscure northern soul gems he recommends massive hits of yore. Have to say things like “yeah Dire Straits’ 1982 ‘Love Over Gold’ is okay I guess” without sounding like a character from ‘High Fidelity’.

Folks are mad at McMansion Hell for using a perspective she’s known for to look narrowly at an issue in the context she’s known for? Did I miss something really awful in there? “Not duplicating my exact concerns” is hardly reason to lock her in the oubliette. Save that one for “being a billionaire.”

The 8yos are currently into 'The Who Was Show,’ narrated by H. Jon Benjamin, & on a couple occasion I worried they’d discovered 'Archer.'

Man, ‘The Paper’ is probably going to be pretty mid but that quote in the first episode about “the industry… collapsing like an old smoker's lung” really takes me back to my decision to give up on j-school and go into insurance following 9/11 and the launch of Google News.

Somehow demolishing the colonnade connected to the White House proper seems even worse? Folks might want to argue the East Wing isn’t ’that historic’ because it was ‘only’ constructed in the 40s, but the colonnades were there even before the Canadians burned the place down in the War of 1812.

I’m not saying heavy metal poisoning is an issue in the products approved for sale in Australia, but I am saying that of my colleagues the same ones who champion using Copilot to write their SQL are also the same ones that talk a lot about their protein and preworkout powder regimens.

The Fantastic Four movie is set in the present day, not the 1960s, but has old cars & fashions because the United States has been forcibly isolated from the international community with a kind of reverse Cuban Embargo for the previous 65 years.

If you’re an IVF clinic or other private medical facility and you can’t secure your patient records, there should be severe financial consequences, not just an apology. Being forced to sign significant amounts of stock over to the affected patients or something like that.
