I know that The Black Parade is both commercially and artistically the album to be celebrated. But when you put the Danger Days album with the comics and music videos - that is the story that needs revisiting right now. It had everything and it was just beginning. Fun Ghoul lives. Tell that story.

Genuinely had no idea! I have an audiobook I’ve been listening to at work. It’s the only time I have a chance. I’m going to have to look into this at my local library. They promote their digital catalogs so much, but maybe this is why. Interesting.
No surprise to librarians, but perhaps surprising to users, demands/prices for ebooks /audiobooks are killing public library budgets. David Szalay's book, Flesh,” costs DCPL:
$28.99 hardcopy
$59.99 ebook
$69.99 audiobook
DCPL owns hardcopy; rents & must repurchase ebook & audio book every 2 yrs.
Libraries can't afford e-books. D.C. lawmakers have a plan.
The demand and price for e-books is up — and it’s busting the D.C. Public Library budget.

If you don't remember Tortuguita's story, one place that I think told some of it well was the Bitter Southerner: bittersoutherner.com/feature/2023...
Little Turtle’s War — THE BITTER SOUTHERNER
The shooting death of a protestor at the hands of police feels like both an inevitable outcome of this long battle over Atlanta’s South River Forest and a completely preventable tragedy.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: The reasonable, centrist, moderate position come 2028 will more than just abolish ICE & dismantle DHS; it’ll be “life in prison for ICE,” if it isn’t already.

Thank you @abigailspanberger.com for taking real action to weaken ICE in Virginia.

Anyway, the mere existence of ICE (and of borders) is a human rights violation. People are meant to move around the world freely, and any restriction of that movement is immoral.

Give me one valid reason why kids need to be targeted in the name of national security.

There is none. It's terrorism tactic meant to scare and silence people.

Getting rid of Arpaio felt so huge to me when I was younger. It’s the system that emboldens men like this that needs to go. Take care of each other out there 🩵
Phoenix is supposed to have *even higher* ice presence soon.

We're having conversations about potential short-term and long-term detention. We're training our teams.

We protested and survived the arpaio days. We know *some of* how this all goes.

Supreme Court Appears Poised to Uphold State Bans on Trans Student Athletes
When Becky Pepper-Jackson started middle school, she wanted to join her school’s track and field team. Like many girls her age, she was excited to make new friends and cultivate a passion for a sport. But unlike the other girls on her school’s track and field team, Pepper-Jackson is trans. And because she lives in West Virginia, a state which has banned transgender girls from participating in public school sports, Pepper-Jackson was excluded from what for her classmates is a normal childhood
