Christ, it's like the return of the living dead. Is this all they've got? FFS.

But it's never a nice 'considering'...the Government is considering making beer free etc

Toryworld has shown today that it is fundamentally and utterly unserious, and many journalists have gone along with it - in part cos it gives the story some more legs and a new turn. Very depressing.

It's ok my new party is abolishing Income Tax and bringing in a 2 day week on full pay, vote for me.
The country has gone mad

From what I can see she's promised to abolish Stamp Duty, so has therefore saved her leadership (?). Ok, elect me and I'll abolish Income Tax.

Bolton Council has been allocated £1.5m from the Pride of Place funding for High Streets. I'm pleased that communities will gain new powers to take over boarded-up shops, preserve local pubs or libraries, and clean up area eyesores. These powers will also help combat suspected money-laundering.

Sorry, but if you're saying those implausible and shallow Kemi Badenoch announcements constitute a good speech then you're part of the UK's political problem.

Same half-baked "tax cut good / international commitments bad" bearing no resemblance to well formed policy.

Ballots have now dropped for the Labour Deputy Leadership race.

We at the Daily Herald reccomend voting for Bridget Phillipson who has introduced 30 hours free childcare, provided free breakfast clubs and led education reforms.

Pragmatic, empathetic, and disciplined, she’s a modern reformer.

I find these occasional asides, and things like the Sunday Times interview, fascinating, in that they serve absolutely no purpose other than to go 'no, it's as bad as you think: I do understand this is a problem, I'm just too much of a coward to do anything about it'.

Kemi Badneoch ends her speech by saying she stands for a country "where people are judged by the content of their character, not the colour of their skin"

Although she herself was 'working class' (for 3 months) she doesn't like working class women does she?

I think she's the better candidate

Kemi Badenoch, a woman who excuse-makes for obvious racism and can't condemn it without doing mimsy false equivalences, talking about 'courage', is it?

While the Tories want to scrap VAT on private schools, Labour are introducing breakfast clubs across the country to help the poorest in society. Labour spoke about a Britain built for all, and tackling child poverty. The difference between the two parties is clear.

Have they abandoned their hatred of Inheritance Tax in favour of a hatred of Stamp Duty?

For someone with her 'A' level grades she's got an incredibly inflated idea of how 'right' she always is. I always thought of her as Truss 2.0, but she's really Corbyn 2.0, with different prejudices.

£12 billion when you factor in stamp duty.

Good to see the Conservative Party committed to keeping the deficit down by *checks notes* spending £2 billion giving tax breaks for private education, creating a massive new deportation force and pledging to maintain pensioner benefits.

We are building the next generation of new towns to make the dream of home ownership a reality again.

This is not just about building new homes — but brand new communities with proper services.

What does that mean? Let me explain 👇🏻
